Allergic reaction to epidural

has anyone had an allergic reaction to epidural (fentanyl). In my last labor I had this happen to me! And was it scary! I can't tolerate pain... I always request it right away but I'm scared it'll happen again. Any suggestions or has anyone had the terrible experience?

    No, but maybe they can give you benedryl before.

    What does your OB say?  Have you talked to an anesthesiologist yet?  Your are better off going into L&D with a workable plan.

    Perhaps they can have you on benedryl before the epi starts or there is a different drug they can use.  You should have this conversation with your OB and an anesthesiologist.

    What do you mean by allergic reaction? Itching,hives, difficulty breathing or a side effect like low blood pressure? I've had two with no problems. Something to discuss with your OB before labor for sure

    Double vision, swollen throat, couldn't swallow, was choking with my own saliva.

    Yes I've discussed it with my dr and he tells me there many different types of Epi they can use.
