Clomid on Backorder?? (child mentioned)

Hello all!

I haven't been on the boards for the past couple of years.  My daughter will be 3 in a couple of weeks and now we're ready to start TTC for baby #2!  I have very irregular periods and was prescribed Clomid for my first and we got pregnant on the second round.

We are planning on using Clomid again and I got a prescription from my doctor this past week.  When I went to fill it, I was informed that Clomid is on backorder and will not be available until June 2015!  

Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there something equivalent to Clomid that my doctor can prescribe?  Is there a generic drug?

We live in Ontario.

    Hi there! I'm in ontario too. I have no experience with clomid but my experience from working at shoppers in high school was that there is often a generic form of a drug :). Call your Dr she can tell the pharmacy you'd like it. Periodically we have shortages of drugs but you could also try different pharmacies depending on their stock. I couldn't get polysporin drops all summer last year then was at the shoppers in Bancroft by chance and they had some!

    Welcome back and good luck on trying for #2!   Not familiar with Canadian pharmacies, but is it possible to get the Clomid from a USA pharmacy?   They seem to hand it out like candy around here.

    Also, please take a moment to read the "Read first" post on the board, some of the board etiquette rules may have changed since you were last here (warnings for children mentioned, etc).


    Married for 7 years, TTC for 4 years
    dx:  Diminished Ovarian Reserve
    2 Clomid IUI's + 4 injectable IUI's= 5 BFNs and 1 mc

    Hi! I'm in Alberta, and was told it would be September before they had any in stock. My pharmacy referred me to a compounding pharmacy that was able to make the pills for me. Maybe check for a compounding pharmacy in your area?
