Re: Who has their bag packed?

  • I havnt evem thought about it i really should considering i could go early 32wks atm
  • Loading the player...
  • Mine has some mini toiletries and a new toothbrush, two pairs of ridiculously fluffy socks, some power bars for hubby, and Chapstick. I just got a new phone so I need to get an extra charger to pack, and I read somewhere that you can wear the clothes you had on when you came in when you leave.
  • I was just thinking this morning how I should figure this out. My second but can't even remember what I had before. I'm so unprepared for this guy. By now all of DD clothes were washed and put away, her room was all set up. His room isn't even done being painted much less set up. I'll be 35w on Sunday.
  • I'm bringing minimal stuff. One bag that contains the following:
    -socks
    -extra set of clothes
    -pajamas
    -the ugliest panties I own
    -nursing bra
    -toiletries
    -Chapstick
    -nursing pads
    -assorted snacks for DH
    -phone charger
    -camera
    -hairbrush/rubberbands/headband
-box of pink candy cigars for visitors
-baby's picture and going home outfits
-a backpack to stuff all the freebies from the hospital in (diapers, ointment, etc.)

I haven't packed it yet but I'm sure I've forgotten something important. I'll get to it in a few weeks. I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow.
  • 36 weeks here and ready to go (bag wise)
Contents: toiletries, Chapstick, gum, snacks, disposable underwear, nursing bra, nursing pjs, makeup, charger, baby book, going home outfit for baby, socks for walking around and keeping feet warm, shower flip flops, and then clothes for husband, and a big sister bag (book, ribbon, present for her baby brother, and big sister scrubs) to give our daughter.
  • New toothbrush, 3 different sized baby outfits, 3 different longsleeve baby outfits, baby stuffy (even if for me to hold to help focus on during labour), set of comfy clothes for me--longsleeve and t-shirt. Tankini bathing suit top (planning on using tub for labour pain management), camera charger, electronics charger (phone, etc), Deoderant, receiving blankets, shaving razor, some snacks...

Not done packing yet. Been cracking down on it as im already showing early labour signs so making sure I'm at least prepared enough to manage in case I need to go in early.
  • I haven't got my bag packed but I'm planning to have it ready within the next 2 weeks as I will be stressed out until I do. I'm planning on buying one of those mini toiletries set and a new toothbrush so it is all already in there and I don't have to worry about forgetting anything, buying a few cheap granny underwears as they will be destroyed anyways from the sounds of things, not packing clothes just a few baggy comfortable pjs with button front I don't care what I look like in front of visitors or when I leave, all the usual things everyone has mentioned, cosy socks dressing gown (cold here) slippers, only thing I should need to remember to grab is charger.

Also a friend advised me to get one of those night gowns with buttons at front for when I go into labour as it's more comfortable and covering then what they give you there and easy to breast feed straight away
  • I just mostly packed mine the other day. What I packed
New mini toiletries so I don't have to scramble at the last minute
    2 pairs of pj's
    Disposable knickers
3 nursing tops with bras in them
Change of clothes and pj's for DH
    Lollies for DH
    Phone chargers
A 0000 and 000 going home outfit for Bub
Loose pants and shirt for me to go home with.
    Camera.
Gifts for my 2 older children. (Quiet activities for them to play with while visiting the hospital)

Everything else is supplied by the hospital and its a private one, so I won't take pillows or anything and my DH can stay overnight too. I've had an epidural twice before and always just end up in a hospital gown so I'm not taking anything particular to labour in.
I usually leave a list on top of anything I need to pack last minute or of anything I've taken out too.
  • @Rosiethird I like the sound of your list very organised that's my style haha I especially like the list idea

Lol thanks. This is my third time around now, you should have seen how much crap I packed the first time. You would have thought I was moving into the hospital.

This! And I'm laughing at the lollipops for DH. Also, disposible undies??

  • I started packing baby's bag today. But now I want to go out and buy a new diaper bag next week because I don't want to put all of this cute stuff in and old yucky bag with crushed goldfish in it. ;) Here's a picture of what's going in Reese's bag.

My bag will be simple. Yoga pants, a few tank tops, nursing bras, flip flops, make up, toothbrush, comfy underwear, Chapstick, phone charger, camera and battery charger.

  • I'm about to pack my hospital bag. I was not prepared when my daughter came early I don't want to be in the same boat this time!
  • I wish I had packed one since I went in for a NST and they kept me...
  • @supersarah77 there used to be a shop here called mothercare and when they closed down just before my son was born, I went on a bit of a spree. They had these weird stretchy mesh like knickers that you can throw away when you change your pad. They were like 50c for a box of 20 so I got a few.
  • The amount of times I've packed and unpacked is unreal & I bet I still forget something...35w2d! Scheduled for c-section:
    -toothbrush/toothpaste
    -shampoo/conditioner
    -body wash
    -lip balm
    -face cream
    -two towels
    -body wipes
    -sanitary pads
    -hairdryer
    -hair brush
    -bobbles
    -nappies
    -baby wipes
    -two sets of pjs
    -two nursing bras
    -big knickers
    -light dressing gown
    -slippers
    -four baby vests
    -four baby grows
    -two baby hats
    -four baby socks
    -two baby blankets
    -baby's coming home outfit
-baby milk incase breast feeding doesn't go to plan
    -car seat
    -muslin cloths
-my coming home clothes ( think they will be the same ones I go in with )
The hospital I'm going to don't supply anything anymore.

  • I'm half packed.  I'm trying to wait until my showers in a couple of weeks to wash the things I need to take for the Bean.  (Nothing is supplied here, other than a couple of pads/diapers for the first night, so I really need to take everything.)  My hospital also recommends two bags, one for labour, one for after, so I'll likely hold to that.  I have my own jammies, a zip front mumu type robe, nursing bra, toiletries, etc. packed.  I'll just be taking yoga pants & a top to come home in, that I'll throw in when I go since I need them to wear myself now.  Camera is ready, and the phone/chargers can go in last moment too. My hospital also suggests your own pillow for extra comfort, so I'll definitely do that.

35 weeks here and doc actually yelled at me for not having one packed a couple days ago... She said bring it in car to every apt from now on (she thinks I'll give birth between 36-37.5 wks?)

So I threw some stuff in a bag along with a list of missing items in case someone has to finish packing for me.

This is my third and we live 10 min from hospital, so I'm honestly not too concerned.

I did wash infant car seat and put back together yesterday (I doubt DH could figure out how straps go together.) that was more important to me to have ready for whatever reason.

  • FTM and I have a small bag packed.  My hospital provides pretty much everything, I'm packing button down PJ's, some loose maxi dresses that work with a nursing tank, phone and camera chargers, and a few pillows.  I thought about fuzzy socks, but I'd rather wear the hospital no-slip socks.

  • Mine has been packed since about 30 weeks. I always have to be prepared for anything. Everything is done just waiting on his arrival :)

We're in the same boat, I'll be 35weeks on Sunday also and nothing is washed and put away for baby #2! I also feel behind schedule on getting things done but I'm so tired at this point that I really can't do much about it! Plus I have a 20 month old girl that manages to keep me very busy throughout the day and night!

One thing I don't see anyone packing and that yes the hospital provides but you will need LOTS of - BIG pads for bleeding. Not fun to think about but definitely going to need them! And no, I haven't packed my bag yet. It just exhausted me looking at all the things you all have packed and how ready you are. Just 33 weeks here. I need a nap between my huge belly and a 14 month old boy. (:|
  • I'm 32 weeks and 4 days.. I've started buying toiletries and started packing. But I will have a bigger bag considering my baby will be staying in the NICU for atleast a month after birth.
  • I'm 35 and 5 days and don't have anything packed yet, I'm going to do mine tomorrow as I'm slightly worried now that if I don't do it soon DH will end up doing it when I'm in hospital lol

    I've got a bag started:
    Burts beeswax lip balm
Toiletries (travel sized soap shampoo conditioner, lotion, moisturizer, deodorant!)
A mini makeup bag with travel sized basic makeup kit (foundation, eyeliner, shadow and blush)
Hair ties and hair pick instead of brush. I have air dried waves these days. Easy-peasy!
A four pack of yoga socks! Non slip bottoms. Found em on EBay for $8 and free shipping.
    Big comfy knickers
    Tank tops x2
    Loose pajama bottoms x2
Knee length Tank dress for labor until they make me change into ugly hospital gown
    Sleeping bras x2
    Robe
I'll wear the same outfit home if my water didn't rupture while wearing it.
Pillow with drk case (so I can't forget)
Towel that is big, soft, and absorbent
Large plastic bags for Soiled laundry.
I've got a list for other things to gather, but this feels like a good start.

The hospital provides all sorts of labor tools like squat bars, birthing balls, etc... And the rooms are all private, with sit in showers and nice couch beds for one other to stay with you at no extra cost. First come first dibs on the labor rooms with labor tubs!! Also, they have complementary massages for mammas before they go home!!!

I'm going to pack a small bag for DH with a change of comfy clothes, pillow and towel. he can use my toiletries. Also snacks. They provide some sodas, waters...and meal trays are $7 for guests

Baby's bag is simple: The hospital said to only bring an outfit for going home and that they give you lots of things to fill the bag.
  • @rosannewild - a massage at the hospital? Nice!

  • I KNOW! complementary too
  • I don't plan on packing until week 36. I'll pack a pair of pjs, a few soft tees, 2 nursing bras, some travel stuff and 2 outfits for baby. I was told to leave a lot of extra room in your bag for diapers and supplies from hospital. I am lucky to live only 15 minutes from hospital so I know my DH and parents or in laws will have to go to my house and some point to take care of my dog so they can get anything I need.

@peteresa we are the same person! I'm so tired too I can't find the energy to do any of it on top of everything else I'm doing. Totally forgot I should get the infant seat washed too. Oh my!

Video camera and charger, camera, phone charger
    Pads
    Tucks and preparation H
Nursing pads and honest co. Nipple balm

  • @rosannewild I'm so jealous!! A complimentary massage before discharge!! I have never heard of such a thing and I'm a nurse!!! Lucky! :D
  • I will pack the day I go in for my induction. I have never had a baby come early and since this is my 5th, I'm not worried.
  • I love this post. I haven't started packing, I'm superstitious and haven't had my shower yet so I'm waiting until after so I don't jinx myself. I am seeing multiple posts about taking nursing bras and nursing tanks. Why are both necessary?
  • I haven't packed yet, really. I have purchased all the toiletries and things that I will take, and have those in a bag, but haven't gathered and put all the clothing type items into a bag yet. I'm thinking I might get that done soon though. I have an idea on what I will add to the bag, but only remember and think "hey, I should pack my hospital bag" when I am no where near home. And by the time I get home, it has basically slipped my mind completely! I guess that I do not feel the need to rush to get it done because not a single female I am blood related to has had their baby by their due date. Always at least a week overdue, so I feel I have some time. But it will be done before my May 6th due date. Maybe I will do it after my shower this upcoming weekend.
  • I'll be packing this week too! (I'm 34w3d)

  • 37 weeks! Bag is packed ... never thought of so better add some things for him lol. And snacks too that's a good idea!

@FeroceFamily I guess I prefer to have nursing bras ( or sleep nursing bras) to wear under my shirts and tanks. I suppose if your nursing cami has a built in bra you don't need one underneath but I prefer the extra support ( especially when engorged). Also at night the bra keeps your nursing pads in place so you don't get milk everywhere when your let down is kinda crazy at first. The cami isn't totally necessary, you can pull down a regular tank... It's just more convenient especially when you're just adjusting to breastfeeding. At home I will probably just sleep in a sleep bra but the tank is nice for lounging around the house. Hope that helps!
  • @kristaelaine86 that totally makes sense! Thank you!
