Difficulty sleeping?

I find myself awake in the middle of the night. Every few hours I wake up. By 1, I need a nap. I don't usually take one. Anyone else feeling like this?

Re: Difficulty sleeping?

  • That's exactly what I'm going through too!

  • I'm having trouble getting to sleep but once I'm out I'm good until I wake up having to pee
  • Totally. I have daily day naps, and sometimes cant sleep when woken up. When i do wake up its because i have to pee!

This for me... I feel either too hot or too cold of something! I don't remember going through this during my first pregnancy, so maybe it goes away at the 2nd tri.?

  • Try taking unisom. It's totally safe and considered category A. Don't buy the gel caps buy the breakable tablets.
  • I'm 4 weeks 2 days and for a few nights in a row I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep for hours! Terrible insomnia those nights. Last night I got 7 hours straight though!
  • Been awake since 4am!! So plan on cleaning the house and do shopping before lunch as I know I'll crash later!!!
  • Same here! No trouble going to sleep, but I wake up super early. Is it safe to take melatoning when pregnant?
  • I wake up every single morning at 3:30am. Can't fall back to sleep until 4. Makes for interesting mornings when my boys wake up at 6:30am.

  • I wake up at 4 am every morning now.....i hate it. Need sleep!
  • Me too! Omg 430 I'm up, even though I go to bed around midnight!
  • I have been waking up multiple times during the night all week.  I just want to sleep for more than 4 hours at a time!

  • I am ready to collapse and fall into bed by 4pm!!! Yet still lying there wide awake at 1am!!!!
  • I haven't had a full sleep without waking up since I got my BFP last Fri! Will be 5 weeks tomorrow and wake up at least once in the night but takes ages to fall back asleep...
And the Hot Flashes! OMGosh... Often wake up feeling absolutely roasting or in a cold sweat.
    Does anyone else experience this??!
  • They say NOT to take melatonin while pregnant. I thought about it also because I've never had issues sleeping and now I toss and turn all night... but I think part of mine is still the excitement of a first pregnancy :D
  • I think the excitement has a lot to do with it! I had insomnia before this and used to take sleep meds, but went off when I got my BFP. It's been a serious struggle. but I seem to sleep better when I exercise and momentarily forget I'm pregnant  ;) I still wake up around 3 or 4 wide awake, but I've been going through the alphabet picking out baby names to help me fall asleep and it works!
  • I am so right there with you! Absolutely EXHAUSTED but can't sleep peacefully for anything! So frustrating!
  • since we have an almost 8 month old who still wakes up twice a night, I find the hardest thing is going back to sleep. Every night I think positively, maybe this will be the night he finally decides to sleep through the night, hah! Until then, trying to rest when he naps.
  • What have u read about not taking melatonin?
  • I read that it can be linked to developmental disorders and effect the hormones you're already producing for baby. I think it's just in high doses but I just avoid it all together.
  • Guess it's preparing us for what's to come 9 months from now...
  • I can fall asleep and stay asleep. But I wake up much earlier! I normally sleep in on the weekend but was up at 730am on a Sunday morning and hubby who is normally an early bird has been sleeping in.. Lol.
  • Hot flashes like crazy here! Between that, the really weird dreams, and getting up to pee at all hours of the night I am exhausted!
  • Echoing most everyone here. I am exhausted but cant get to sleep, can't stay asleep, wake up soaked in sweat... fun stuff lol. You'd think with our bodies working so hard to create life we'd be well oiled sleeping machines lol. Just doing the do the best I can with it because I know the best and the worst, sleep wise, is yet to come. It gets a bit better 2nd tri... then worse in the 3rd (because of being so big and uncomfy and baby throwing a party in there, lol).

  • I have been falling asleep early but keep waking up around 5. I really just want to sleep a little longer.

  • Unisom has saved me. I take half a tab and am able to sleep through the night. It helps with morning sickness too.
