Hi Girls- FTM. I'm 12w3d prego. It seems like forever till I can find out the sex of my plum. Everyone keeps telling me it's a girl because of the food I choose. I was wondering if anyone that is further along can confirm this or experienced the same thing. I can't stand meat, cheese, & marinara- to name a few. I love anything sour (esp candy!) Fruit, and plain bagels. Basically carbs. I heard this can change by 2nd trimester tho..help! :-)
I have absolutely no cravings for sweet things and only want salty. According to all the old wives tales - the sex was boy and I was convinced. My little girl defied all of the old wives tales! It was such a surprise at the ultra sound to find out my little bean is a girl! Don't read too much into what you are craving - every pregnancy is different
I'm having a girl and I eat pretty much everything in sight; meat, chips, candy, salsa, veggies, fruits, granola, etc. My tastes haven't really changed much. Only issue I have had is preparing meat, if I smell it before it's cooked, I can't eat it. More of a morning sickness issue though.
My cravings are mostly about milk: regular milk, chocolate milk, fruity pebbles and milk, cookies and milk...

I can confirm that this is not a real, scientific thing. An OWT? Sure. Real medical science? No.
What foods you like or don't like are in no way an indication of your baby's sex.
Ha! Even from old wives tales you are all mixed, OP. I'm Team Green and chose not to find out, but LOVE playing the old wives tales game at guessing the sex (its fun). According to all the ones I have read, women carrying boys crave meat and cheeses. AND, also crave sour over sweet. So here you have one craving that would say boy (the sour candy), and another that doesn't (no meats or cheeses). Like a PP said, just be patient. At your a/s even that isn't 100% guarantee, so until you know more from that, try to have fun with it. The best way to get a pretty good idea before birth is the a/s (but some have still been wrong!), the only concrete way to know for sure is to have a look once you're holding him/her!
Meh, OWT's are completely ridiculous. I am having the same aversions I did with my DS and I'm having a girl this time. Everything I enjoyed with DS (bacon is my number 1 craving) I'm enjoying this time around.
I normally have a huge sweet tooth. Since I've been pregnant I have not wanted anything sweet, instead I've wanted nothing but meat, eggs, and salty snacks. Even when I crave fro yo I only want the tart flavors, not sweet. We just found out today that baby is a girl (the tech said she never says she is 100% sure but she was willing to say 97%). So yeah. My food cravings meant absolutely nothing!
I'm team green and was with my son. I am not a sweet eater and with him all I wanted was sweets!! I couldn't look at chicken or meat until about 16 weeks. I had a boy so you never know!!
I am by no means bragging, but I didn't even know I was pregnant until I was 12 weeks along and craving cow milk all the time. Usually I drink soy, because I like the taste better, but nothing tastes better than regular milk at this stage. (I am now 23 weeks along) The only things that made me nauseated were cigarrete smoke and alcohol. Raw pork would make me gag before pregnancy and was no different after. I eat everything. Sweet, sour, savory, salty... I have a flavor rainbow happening in my tummy on a regular basis. However, be careful of heartburn. I used to be able to eat hot sauce on everything and now I really have to be careful about what I put in my mouth if I don't want my throat to feel like it's liquifying. Pay no attention to food cravings, pay more attention to how you are putting on weight and how your emotions are fluctuating. I understand everyone is different, but from both what I have seen and been told, girls make you more emotional and boys make you more aggressive. Something about the added estrogen or testostorone mixing in with your own hormones. I am a pretty emotional person as is with a hulk-sized temper, but with this pregnancy I cry at everything. It could be something happy, sad, stressful, a commercial on tv, stories about babies, pics of my friend's babies on my facebook feed... you get the picture? Found out a couple weeks ago I am indeed having a girl. Instead of focusing on what you are having try to get educated about what you need to know when they get here! We can always stand to learn more right? best of luck to you!
Last time I was prego all I wanted was sweet things - I had a girl! This time it's a boy (ultrasound is 100% when you clearly see boy bits!) and all I want is savoury things!
I use the effects of additional hormones as a guessing basis as well. Far more accurate. With my son I was a ball of rage and far hairier than normal. With my daughter I am weepy and easily upset or stressed, and I break out more than usual. Extra testosterone vs extra estrogen. Still not foolproof, but more accurate than any OWT since it is at least partly based on science. Although not everyone reacts to the hormones the same way.
According to all the old wives tales, everyone thought I was going to have a girl. Horrible morning sickness for weeks, craving sweets when I finally could eat again, baby had a high heart rate at every ultrasound... guess what? I just found out 2 days ago that I'm having a little BOY
Old wives tales may not be reliable, but it's still fun to guess. With my first, I had a crazy appetite. I ate everything in sight. Supposedly, if you eat like a teenage boy, it means you are having a boy. Well, he was a boy! This time, I have almost no appetite at all. I have to force myself to eat a healthy amount of food each day, and my one big craving is unsweetened iced tea. It's all I ever want to drink. Well, we just found out that this one is a boy as well!
Oh yeah, I have had HORRIBLE heartburn during both pregnancies. It is sooo bad that I literally can't do anything when it hits, and nothing seems to ease the pain. I just have to sit still until it passes, which can take hours. So, this is supposed to mean that the baby will come out with a full head of hair. It was absolutely true with DS, so I'm curious if it will prove to be true again! LOL
With my son I craved more meats and dairy. With this little one (a girl) I can't get enough sweets!, and I'm normally not a big fan of things like that. So, for me, the old wives tales are true. Even the smell of meat can sometimes make me gag, especially red meat, and I was RAISED in beef country, so that's definitely not normal.
everyone's different but i personally had mostly accurate OWT. I had a HUGE sweet tooth pre-pregnancy especially for chocolate and once i became pregnant, i wanted NOTHING to do with sweets. Lots of other things too, from the heartbeat to the pendant test, all pointed to boy and sure enough i'm having a little boy. I'm NOT by any means saying they're right for everyone or that you should paint your nursery, just saying I had fun guessing beforehand and almost all of them ended up being right. the one that threw me for a loop was intense morning sickness!

Wives tales cannot be trusted!
