Pregnant after a Loss

Buying baby stuff? When?

With my last pregnancy me and my boyfriend decided not to buy anything because our family was pressuring us to wait until the baby shower or a month before the baby shower. They are huge in my family events for the first child. Unfortunately we didn't make it to having a baby shower so I never bought anything for my son. I was wondering did any other moms wait to buy things for the rainbow baby? Should I wait? It's such a simple question yet I find myself so confused? When did u guys start buying baby stuff?

Re: Buying baby stuff? When?

  • After we lost our twin boys I was very nervous about buying anything. I had literally registered two nights before.

When pg with my daughter, I was high risk and hospitalized. I think we finally ordered furniture around 30 weeks and I ordered a sweet crocheted hat for her at about 28 weeks. There were no purchases before that hat because I was just to nervous.

  • My last four pregnancies were miscarriages (all at or before 10 weeks). With my 3 year old daughter, we bought baby things right away, but for this pregnancy, I'm going to wait as long as possible. I bought a few things during the short pregnancies I lost (mostly maternity clothes) and it was so painful to have them around after the losses, I couldn't wait to give them away! I think we'll wait until after 20 weeks at least.
  • This is my 3rd pregnancy, when I got pregnant the first time we bought alot of things that we'd need, I lost him at 2wks Dr's kept telling me it shouldn't happen again, with my 2nd pregnancy I only started getting little things here and there lost baby #2 at 12wks, when I got pregnant again I didn't buy anything, I have family who has gone all out and what not but when I started having problems at 18wks I told everyone to stop and I'd have a baby shower after baby comes so as not to jinx anything, I've been feeling guilty lately not doing anything for baby so I finally registered for some things and my DH and I have a piggy bank we've been "feeding" for our little rainbow baby, but that's about it..
  • @xstacyannex that's kind of what I had in mind, best of luck with this pregnancy. *hugs
