Is morning sickness worse if you're having a girl?

Okay, this is sort of silly and I know there's no guarantee of anything, but I'm looking for some anecdotal evidence either way. My first baby- no morning sickness, extreme fatigue, craved salty foods. Had a boy. This pregnancy- constant nausea, average fatigue, craving cheesecakes and chocolate and ice cream. So! Am I having a girl? Has anyone had drastically different symptoms and had the same gender? Or different genders?
Thanks for your stories!

Re: Is morning sickness worse if you're having a girl?

  • With my son I didn't have many symptoms other than sore breasts.  With my daughter I had nausea and food aversions.  This time I have had nausea, but feel like it is a boy.  I've also felt like my symptoms have gotten worse with every pregnancy.  We aren't finding out until the birth so we will have to wait and see if the symptoms have any baring on sex.

  • I have two girls that are 11 months apart and both pregnancy were completely different! My first I was sick up until 12 weeks, gained a lot of weight and went 10 days late. With my second I felt great the entire time was all belly and delivered 9 days early.
  • I have 2 boys and a girl and i had horrible nausea and vomiting with all 3 pregnancies, as well as this one. I dont notice a difference between carrying boy vs girl.
  • I've heard the wives tale that if you're really sick the first trimester it's a girl so I thought for sure we were having a girl. I've had sore breasts, 24/7 nausea, headaches, etc. Pretty much I feel like crap and less than human all the time! We just found out on Friday that we're having a boy. Lol.
  • This pregnancy it's way different than my first, but I don't think it says anything about the sex. They have different dads and are two totally different babies do they each are made up of different chemicals and your reaction to them will be different
  • Omg I agree same situation here! I was terribly sick w my DS I was sick all the time all I could keep down was cabbage n tuna lolzz now am eating and crazing everything not eating a lot just need to taste and satisfy the craving and then I'm done! I do feel like this is a girl [-O<

This is just like my step mom! She was more sick with my brother than my sister. I think it just depends on the woman's reactions to her increased hormones. It's SO fun to guess though until we know for sure, isn't it?! :)
  • Well with my daughter I was sick alot the first trimester. And also sick throughout the pregnancy. With my son I wasn't as sick. And now this pregnancy I been sick 24/7 again so maybe it will be a girl.
  • Last pregnancy, no nausea, no fatigue, no nothin'! I craved sweets, lived on watermelon (like 2 whole watermelons a week!), loved lemon flavored sweets, yogurt, and chocolate. It was/is a girl.

This time, extreme fatigue (unable to form words at the worst parts unless I rested), no nausea, terrible mood swings. I crave salty things which is sooo not my style. I had 3 M&M's and they tasted like I was eating poison! Unless it's ice cream, sweets and I don't mix right now. I'm thinking it's a boy this time and will find out Thursday.

My best friend had horrible morning sickness with both pregnancies. She has a girl and a boy.

I was horribly sick with my daughter, constantly vomiting, so hard my blood vessles in my eyes were bursting ( looked vulgar). With my second.pregnancy I had no symptoms that I can recall and I knew it was a boy- I was correct. This time I have bad nausea so I am unsure what it will be but I am leaning towards a boy again
  • If that's the case my son should of been a girl ! I was sick from 6 weeks right till 39 weeks when I had him !! Constant vomiting !!
  • My first I had the worst sickness. Could not keep water down. Craved salty. Girl. 2nd had no sickness. Craved sweets. Girl.
  • With DD I only had morning sickness for a few day during week 6. This time I have all the negative symptoms (finally going away gradually!). It'll be interesting to see what we have growing now since these have been totally different pregnancies!

This is so me!! Like to the T. First pregnancy I was so sick that I had to tell my boss I was pregnant by 6 weeks bc I couldn't deal. Craved nothing but sweets the entire pregnancy.

This time around, slight nausea in waves. Totally bearable and nothing like my last. Craving lots of fruits, veggies and salty foods. In my heart I feel it's a boy. Plus the Chinese calendar said so. Hah! I won't know for another week or so though.

  • My son I had extreme nausea for the whole 9 months ! and I craved home made pizza burgers and white milk(and I did NOT like milk before hand). !!!!!!!! This pregnancy I only threw up once and I stopped liking certain food like Chinese chow mein that I LOVED before hand ! And with my son his heart beat was always 167-176 and with this baby it's 156 !! Find out may 16th what this baby is (: !
  • My first two pregnancies were completely different.  I bought girl clothes thinking I was having a girl because it was so different than DS1's pregnancy.  But it ended up being another boy.  DD's pregnancy was similar to DS1's pregnancy, and this one is similar to DS2.  DS1 and DD have similar personalities, too.  Both are athletic and active, more mature, hit milestones early, and generally speaking are pretty obedient.  DS2 was a very difficult baby and has continued to challenge everything he's come across.  I'm not saying he's a bad kid, just that he's more work and a bit more exhausting ;-)  He's incredibly smart, not as active, and hit milestones a little bit later (although that could be partly because he was early).  Anyway, all of that to say I had COMPLETELY different symptoms with my boys, but they are still both boys.

    Married to J since 5/05, Mommy to T (10/08), L (08/10) and C (02/13) who was born at home.

  • I was horribly sick the entire 9 months with my son. I could barely eat and just felt generally awful all the time. This time around has been way different, I get sick and have off days, but by far more tolerable than with my son so I'm thinking girl. Lol the exact opposite of your situation op

I'd like to imagine that I'm having a girl because I have been so gravely sick so far but then I always think about Princess Kate Middleton and she was hospitalized and has a boy. Haha no way to tell I guess!
  • Aw I love all your replies! I guess I'll keep guessing!

This is how I was with my boys. Both were totally opposite! First I was sick every day but after throwing up, I was fine. #2 I only got sick a handful of times but I was also on a boat fishing so I think that's what set me off.
And they still are completly different kids. This pregnancy had been even worst then both the others.

I from 6-11 weeks I threw up at least 1-4 times a day. Woke up all night thinking I would have to run to the bathroom. It was none stop! But now I am feeling better. I can't wait to know what it is though.

  • Aw I love all your replies! This is fascinating! I guess I'll keep guessing! Congratulations to those who have found out!
  • I was super sick with my first pregnancy and feel so sick with this one too, and especially more tired. My dad's convinced it's another girl because of it, but my mom was more sick with my brothers than with me and my sister! I just want to know already haha
  • I was really sick with my first, exhausted and had horrible acne/breakouts on my jaw bone.  Everyone said I was carrying a girl...I ended up having a boy. :)

This time around the nausea is worse (did not think that was even possible) and still exhausted, no breakouts yet,  With both pregnancies I craved a lot of carbs my first trimester!

  • I just found out... It's a boy! Guess you really can have totally opposite pregnancies but have the same gender. We are so excited!
  • It's worse if you are having more
Than one I have found out!
  • With her I had hardly any morning sickness! I thought I was going to have a boy, boy was I wrong :)
  • I was super sick with my second pregnancy and have two girls so I don't put any merit in the theory
  • I don't believe it, sorry!! My sister in law was VIOLENTLY ill with morning sickness!! Hospitalised, threw up most days everyday until she was 35 weeks and she had a beautiful baby boy!! She always wanted all things sweet. She couldn't even handle the smell of anything savoury!
