High Chair thoughts?

Morning all! First time poster... I had a couple friends help me start my registry, but none of them had any "feeling" towards high chairs. I feel like I am going in blind and it's kind of an important piece that will be used for a while. Anyone have any recommendations / thoughts? I definitely want free standing (not the kind that attaches to a chair) and since it's on the registry I am less concerned with budget. Thanks in advance and hope everyone is feeling good!

Definitely the blossom! You'll love it. Right now we're not using the high chair part but just the seperate booster seat that comes with it. I used to bring just the high chair seat that detaches from the legs and wheels and the tray for when baby was small and we traveled. It's just got so many different options there's something for everyone.

  • See, I am interested to know what people post here. I mean, baby isn't going to need a high chair for quite a few months, so why bother putting it on the registry? That was the debate I was having.  Do people put that type of shit on there? If they do, I'll definitely put one on and a walker on but I just thought we'd get things like that as we need it...
  • I'm getting the $60 one from Ikea that can become a toddler chair for her. It's wood and modern looking with a plastic tray, and $100 less than the Eddie Bauer one I looked at. I think as long as it has safety straps and a removable tray you should be good.

I'm registered for the Graco Blossom 4-in-one (it also converts to a toddler chair for later on).
Yes, you should register for this type of thing.  You may not need it immediately, but it will help not have to worry about it later or to spend the money on it later.
  • We also chose the Graco blossom chair as it converts to a bunch of different options as baby grows and had great ratings on consumer reports. Definitely should register for something like this as it is a baby staple even if you don't need it for a little bit
  • Thanks. Going to register for it now. LOL
  • We got the Eddie Bauer one from Target. I thought it was what I wanted but it is a HUGE pain in the ass to clean. It's been through two kids and has held up GREAT, but it get's nasty fast and it's not easy to just wipe down. Go with something easy to clean up!
  • Based off the advice given, I have researched and registered for the Graco Blossom 4-in-1 high chair. Lol. I can now contribute useful info to this post.

  • I bought a high chair when my son was 6 months old and started eating baby food. You don't need one before that.

  • I registered for the graco slim since we really have no space for one to just be sitting out all the time. It will fit in the closet in the dining room
  • Thank you all I was leaning towards the Graco 4-in-1 blossom so looks like I was on the right path! And I echo the sentiments of others the people I have spoken to (and I agree) have said if you have the space register for anything you will need with in the first year. Why pay for it yourself if someone may buy it for you as a gift that you actually need! Especially when having a baby is very expensive!
  • I'm not doing a registry but we don't have space and will likely move by the time it will be needed. Really trying to limit the amount of baby stuff in the house for space and moving reasons.

  • I wouldn't worry about a high chair yet, it will be 4-6 months after baby arrives before you need a high chair...
  • I registered for a Graco one (don't remember which one) but I'm not sure if I'm in love with it. I figured if I get it at my shower, great. If not, I'll just wait until we actually need a high chair and do more research before buying.
  • Im not getting one till baby is older and actually needs it. .I have no extra room to put a high chair thats not going to be used at least for 5 months. . I dont think I would put on registry but that's just my opinion.
  • Tripp Trapp chair!  The only chair you will ever need, it can work for a 6 month old (younger with the baby attachment) and all the way up to an adult.  Baby sits at the table right from the start.  It is expensive, really holds its value since its all wood.  From what I've seen on Craig's List it resells for 50% of the original price.
  • I got the Phil & Teds Highpod Chair. It reclines, so you can lay it all the way back to put an infant in it that cannot sit yet or when baby can sit and they fall asleep in highchair. And it's height can be adjusted from table height to counter height! I love how versatile it is!!! I really wanted the bloom highchair, but couldn't justify spending $600. So, this one does all the same things as a bloom, but was only $199 at PishPoshBaby.com
  • I know I won't be getting one or anything from my registry as a gift so me making my registry is kinda just for myself. I added a few so I could compare them. I won't be getting one till he's older or if I can find one for a good deal but it's still nice to know which one I want so I don't have to go research one when the time comes :)

I was told to put everything you'll need up through the first year of the baby's life, so we have the high chair and walker on our registry. Also, my brother just had a baby in January and she lays in the high chair while they eat dinner, so she's using her high chair pretty young.
  • My husband and I laughed our butts off one night at the Boon high chair, thinking it looked my space age barber chair than high chair. Fast forward two days later, found one at a consignment shop, the sales lady went crazy telling me how much she loved hers and before I knew it, that space age shit was in my car.

And it's AWESOME. It takes up some space, but it is stupid easy to clean, move, disinfect, hose down, use at the table or on its own, the works. Love that crazy thing.
  • Registered for the graco slim....babies r us keeps registries active for a year after due date so figure if don't get it at baby shower the stuff we don't immediately need can be Christmas gift suggestions....
  • I LOVE our high chair. It's the Stokke Tripp Trapp. Like all our other baby furniture, I got it off Craigslist. Check it out on amazon.
    It's $300 new. I paid $65. Boom.
    I love a good deal.

We put a highchair on our registry but I forgot what kind.
  • I'm all about the boon high chair. We had two and I love it! Couldn't be easier to clean, rolls around, can be at the counter or table and can take the trays on/off with one hand. Expensive brand new but amazing. My son is almost 3 and still crawls in his.
