So, I was feeling cranky earlier today. I decided to get out of the house and run some errands, but before I began the major errand (store run) I stopped to get an early dinner.
I'm sitting there alone, eating my cheeseburger and veggies, reading a book. And a little girl (could not have been more than 4) comes up with a chocolate chip cookie on a plate. She struggles to begin speaking and I hear her mom from the other side of the wall behind me prompting her. "I'm learning about random acts of kindness. Please have this cookie on us." And then very solemnly, without any prompting from mom - "Pay it forward".
And then they left.
So I extra tipped my server and then on the way home stopped by my vets office. I gave them $25 to apply to someone who they know struggles to pay for their pets medications (my experience working for veterinary offices let's me know there is always *someone* who struggles to pay for their pets medication) and to just tell that person they have been random act of kindness'd.
So, ladies. My crankiness has been banished by a little girl with a cookie. And I ask that if you have the ability to buy a cookie for a stranger in the days to come, please do so.
(Now, this probably wasn't worth its own thread, but I figured we could all use a feel good moment)

Re: NPR - Random Acts of Kindness
I finished that cookie about an hour ago (I had really stuffed myself with that cheeseburger before she came over) and it made me smile all over again.
