Just when I though things were okay...

so some of you may remember I had a positive NT scan. I did the harmony blood work that all came back normal. I went in for a 16 week measurement ultrasound today and we found out our baby has a larger head (92%) and shorter long bones (56%), he also has calcification spots on his heart. . Because of this they did an amniocentesis while I was there and are concerned that the baby may have some genetic disorder. The doctor told me that he is baffled by the fact that my blood work is normal but measurements say otherwise. He said that I could fall in the 1% of inaccurate tests.

I thought that since the blood work was normal we were in the clear. I have had a hard time connecting with this pregnancy because I'm terrified.

I am so sorry! I am hoping you deliver a h healthy baby. But no matter what you will still love your sweetie more than anything in the world when he/she is born.
Did they say what genetic disorder they think baby may have?

@Cupcakequeen1000 the only thing that they mentioned was Down syndrome. My blood test for that came back negative and the nasal bone is 100% visible so I'm not convinced that's the issue.

@kjjellybean a great family friend of ours in her late 30's was "supposed" to have her baby born with Down Syndrome and he was born completely normal. I hear of this all time.I would definitely be concerned to if i was pregnant and this was the case, but i also have family friends who have a grown son with Down Syndrome and to me he is completely normal. We all love him and he does just about everything independently. I hope all turns out okay for you guys

My mother was told my brother was going to be born with Down syndrome and he turned out to be a healthy 10 lb baby. As mentioned above, this is unfortunately way too common. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Just a positive thought but my 4 year old was the same way and they were almost certain that he had a syndrome. My testing came back 1:6 for ds and I had an amino.... on ultrasound he had short legs and a longer head...he is 100% normal but is proportioned funny and still is...he is also adorable and funny!!

I just got a call from my genetic counselor and she told me that the results of my FISH test came back normal and because if that the likelyhood of my final amnio results coming back abnormal are greatly decreased. I am so relieved and an very grateful for all of you ladies. Thank you for all the well wishes. We really do have a great group of september mommies

My mother loves to tell me that she was told I would have Down syndrome when I was born & that she shouldn't keep me.

They were wrong! I was almost 9 lbs & very healthy & I turned out perfectly fine! Those tests are not always right, stay positive!
