October 2015 Moms

should I call ob/gyn for a sonogram? I'm super nervous.

This is my first. I got pregnant through ivf. I had sonogram at 6, 7 and 8 weeks with infertility and baby is doing good. My infertility doctor sent to the regular ob/gyn. I'm 10 weeks now. My next appt with ob is on april 23rd for a check up. I'll be 13 weeks by then. I'm super nervous on how my baby is doing. I want to check if baby is still doing good. Am I just over reacting? What can I do to ease my worry? :/

I know how you feel I was fine until I read about the ladies losing their babies after 8 weeks which is the last time I saw mine on the u/s. Now I wanna call my doctor and make up a story about cramping just to make sure baby is ok, but I'm sure I wont. I hate to lie.

  • Happyfeet, that is my worry. I read of other ladies losing their baby at 8 or 9 weeks, so I'm super nervous. It took me 6 years to get pregnant.

Thank you livenlove. I pray to have a healthy pregnancy.
  • I can relate to what you are feeling. I am a FTM and I haven't seen my baby yet. We heard a heart beat at 9 weeks (it was amazing!!) but sometimes it doesn't feel real because we tried very hard for a long time to get pregnant. I am so happy IVF worked for you!!
  • I understand being nervous. I also did fertility treatment (IUI, not IVF) & was receiving weekly ultrasounds. I have one more with my RE next week then I'm being released to my OB so I will have way less frequent u/s. Have you considered buying an at home Doppler? I know there are mixed thoughts on that but I recently ordered one just to ease my mind between appts. I'm looking forward to getting it tomorrow so I can check on heartbeats when I start to feel uneasy :)

I had a missed miscarriage last year and I am a wreck about whether things are ok with my baby now. So I go to an elective ultrasound place (weekly) it cost money but the peace of mind for me is so worth it.
  • I feel like your OB would do an ultrasound as a routine for your first visit with them? (Especially since your first OB appt isn't until 13 wks?!?)
  • I had ivf too anf it's my first. I totally relate...we have scans weekly until week 12 and even waiting the 7 days between appointments was so hard. I would call for a sonogram earlier. It's such a relief to know all is well.
  • Honestly get checked if you feel nervous about it then your doctor has to understand. I have no children but I've been through five pregnancies and this is my first one that's gone this far Im 10 weeks as well whenever If I feel nervous or anything I get checked Now my doctor check once a week. Just talk to your doctor they will understand. Just think positive don't have negative thoughhts. Also do not stress if you stress stressing bad. Good luck with every thing.
  • I did IVF too and am so nervous. I got a fetal doppler. I have weekly ultrasounds and a day or so before my ultrasound I check to make sure my baby is still alive. You should buy one too.

  • Thanks everyone. I dont know anything about the fetal doppler. I'll definitely look into that. I'll call my doctor if I can get a sonogram.
  • I am going this same thing now! Released to my normal ob at 10 weeks and here I am at 12 weeks a nervous wreck!!! Idk if I can wait two more weeks. I got so spoiled with weekly visits.
  • I had three ultrasounds at 6,7 and 9 weeks. My next appointment isn't until 14 weeks and I am just like you worried down thing can happen in between. We did ivf and I'm having twins. Luckily my fertility clinic will do a repeat ultrasound if I request it before I am 12 weeks which happens to be this friday. So I made an appointment for this week just to make sure everything is ok and I can see them again. After the first trimester I hope the worry goes away!
