May 2015 Moms

measuring 40 weeks!!!! :O

so I just had my 36 week check up and I'm measuring almost 40 weeks! :O I was just diagnosed with GD last week so now I'm terrified I have a 10 pound baby in there already (joking - kind of haha) The doctor is giving me one more week and if I'm still measuring this big we will do another ultrasound and set an induction date... The doctor said to prepare for an April baby because she won't be letting me go to my due date of May 1.

I guess I will be spending Easter week end making sure everything is prepared!

sorry there is not real question or anything here, I"m just freaking out a little and who better to understand then other moms-to-be! :)

Im there with you!! I'm 31 weeks measuring 35 weeks! Baby is already at least 5lbs and my OB at this point said he could be 10lbs...I am still going to attempt VBAC as long as it's safe. How did they not diagnose you of GD before now?
  • @Brieb33 I passed my test at 27 weeks then at my 34 week appointment they found sugar in my urine so they got me to do the test again failed that so I had to do the 3 hour test. I only failed 1 out of 3 but that's still considered GD ... Which sucks :(
Good luck on your vbac I hope it all goes smoothly! :)

And thanks everyone else for the well wishes, I can't believe how close we all are!!!!
  • I would still try for a vbac even with a big baby. My I had a csection with my first because of failure to descend. They thought he was too big for me. He was 7lbs 11oz 20.25 inches long. I had a VBAC with my second son. He was 9lbs 8oz 21inches. I didn't need a stitch. And your fundal height isn't the most accurate way to judge size. And even ultrasounds can be off. Don't get yourself worked up about it. As long as you and baby are healthy everything else will be fine.
  • Thanks robr0303!! This was an ultra sound to see how big baby is. They said pretty accurate within 1lb up or down but I'm definitely going VBAC big or not as long as he is ok and my OB lets me. We will do a repeat size But your story is encouraging to me and I hope I have such an experience too!!

I'm medical term full term is 38 to 42 weeks. That hasn't changed, but for a lot of doctors they are saying 39 weeks as dates can be off and it's better to deliver a little over than under. In the NICU 38 is still term.
