I had cervical prep placed last night at midnight. I was 2cm, 50%, -1 station. The pitocin started at 4am. I didn't sleep a wink because I couldn't get comfy and had to pee all the time. Then I had a very traumatic / difficult epidutal placed around 9am. It was difficult to get in right because of scoliosis. I had absolutely no trouble with getting one last time i was pregnant, and was i surprised to have trouble this time. But i was in tears, vomiting, and they had to call in help to get it placed. By noon, I was up to a whopping 3cm, 70%, and -2 station. (that's right. She went backwards.) There was talk of placing an internal monitor to measure contractions. I also had a non-numbed hot spot where the epidural didn't take. By this point, between the lack of sleep, traumatic epidural placement, ineffective pain relief, and failure to progress, I was a hot mess.
they called anesthesia to work on my epidural. It worked, but it was so strong that i couldnt feel anything. i also got dizzy with chills not long after it was placed. the nurse talked to the doc about placing the internal contraction monitor, then went to get help placing it. They came in to do the procedure and I was 10cm, 100%, +2. In the course if an hour, I went from 3 to 10. I had to avoid pushing until the OB got there. Baby girl was out in only a few pushes
Despite the horrible start to this delivery, it finished beautifully. Quite the opposite if DS, where everything was perfect until he got stuck at the end and I pushed for 3.5 hours. DD weighed 7lbs 3.8oz and is 19 inches long. She looks a lot like her brother.

Re: Baby girl is here!
I told DH that if I'd known how traumatic the epidural would have been, combined with how quickly the rest of labor would have gone, that I may have tried to go natural. Oh well. We're fine now, minus what feels like a very bruised back
