Postpartum Shapewear

This is a question for any moms that are having anything other than their first baby. Have any of you had any experience with using a postpartum shapewear belt/girdle/corset? Something like the Bellefit? I really like the idea of having the help to get myself a bit more flat afterwards, but I'm just hoping to get some insight of whether or not anyone has had an experience with them before I decide to spend the money. (Dang they are pricey!) Which style have you tried? Did it work?

Re: Postpartum Shapewear

  • My friend tried a binder you can ask for at the hospital (free) and she said that worked great.

  • I bought a shaper spanx from kohls in a few sizes bigger than I usually do ( they run small ) I chose one with belly and thigh compression. We'll see when I can (should) squeeze into it. I also got some yoga pants with belly compression support. Still considering a belly bandit. But in definitely asking for a binder at the hospital.
  • With my first daughter I tried the shrinkx hips belt. It worked fabulous and got my hips back to normal and maybe a wee bit smaller than before. I wore it most of the time and even slept in it for the full 8 weeks recommended postpartum. I will say it isn't very comfortable but the end result is worth it in my opinion. I wore both the shrinkx hips and belly bandit with my second girl and experienced great results as well. I returned to normal much quicker but again not very comfortable but worth it!!! So glad I splurged on myself for this one!
  • I totally did not see this post before I started mine.. Wooops :D but I was wondering the same thing! I think I'm gonna get the belly bandit and Shrinkx hips thing like PP :)
  • I just bought an Ace Bandage from the drug store and wrapped my stomach.  It was a couple dollars and I could easily adjust it to be tighter or looser.  I wore it constantly for the first 6 weeks postpartum and it worked great :)

  • Thanks for the responses! I know that I want to have some sort of belly binder to get everything back to somewhat normal afterwards. At this point I'm just worried about proportions, because the only place that I gained real weight was by hips and thighs. I am already pear shaped, but now it's much more exaggerated. I'm just going to have to try take extra barre classes once I'm feeling up to it. But I'm sure I will appreciate the help a belly binder can give me. One less area to have to focus on.
  • Posting here instead... I'm considering the Bellefit corset but it has a full panty (like a bodysuit) with a hook and eye connection and I'm worried that would hurt after giving birth. Has anyone tried one? I like that it shrinks belly and hips in one but am looking at the belly band and shrinx hip wrap instead to avoid any rubbing against my vagina.
