Pregnant after 35

Cranky

I am so cranky today and just had to share.  Just couldn't sleep last night.  Honey badger was moving around like crazy and I couldn't get comfortable at all.  And I have been having crazy weird dreams for weeks that are really rather upsetting.  Then the fiance texted me at 12:15 (um, hello, I wake up at 6 a.m.) with simply the word "ouch."  Some of you may know from a previous post that he is in Vegas for work.  So, what does ouch mean?  Are you hurt?  Did you piss hundreds of dollars away on the craps table?  Did you have one too many cocktails?  Did something happen with work?  WHAT?!  Lol.

I texted him this morning with basically those questions and then said "don't text your pregnant fiance with this message after midnight when she has to get up at 6 a.m."

I'm sure the text wouldn't have bothered me if I had gotten some sleep, but I didn't.  I guess I was just annoyed that he was out having fun while I was struggling to sleep.  I'm not even really mad.  He just makes me worry (and I already worry a ton)/

So, yeah, cranky.  Super crank.  Crankapotamus.  And I figured it was better to vent here and get it out before I start teaching.  Can't be cranky toward my students.  Happy face on!!! :)

Re: Cranky

  • Ugh. My husband used to work nights and that's the same crap he would text me.  Then I would worry all night that something happened. It's annoying.

I totally feel your pain on no sleep either. I get up at 5:45 every day.. or I should say that's when my alarm goes off. lol I don't necessarily get up when it goes off.  I can't sleep ever. I literally toss and turn all night.  The best sleep I get is from about 3:30 am to 5:30am and then my alarm goes off.  Exhausted every single day. It's no fun!!  Then on top of that my DH just gets all cranky because he's not getting sex.. so yay me. lol

Here's to getting some sleep!! I know I would like to get some!

  • I toss and turn all night as well.  And I know it's only gonna get worse.

Fiance texted me that he was dared to send me an April Fool's joke.  Guess it sounded like a fun idea while they were all out at the bar last night.  He said that now he sees how dumb and insensitive it was, which is good.

Guess it's just water under the bridge.  Sorry I made a big deal about it.

  • Your night was much like mine!  I had trouble falling asleep even though I was exhausted.  I think I was so tired I was used to functioning through the tiredness and it was hard to just "shut off" at bedtime.  Then the littlest one was really fighting sleep..and I hate dealing with her when she is like that.  She woke up several times over the night crying and complaining for no discernible reason.

I had stressful dreams a couple times over the course of the night.  I woke up feeling distressed and sweating.  Once it took me about an hour to be able to calm down and get back to sleep.

I got to sleep till 7 so it was better than yours there!  But once I got up it was non stop all day today.  I made bacon and eggs for breakfast because I wanted all protein as I was going to take my GT test later on and didn't want anything carb to mess with my results.  After breakfast I did a treadmill workout.  Showered and ran off for my prenatal appointment.  She is usually so fast.  You arrive, get right in, and are done in minutes.  Well she was slow today...which is nothing compared to other drs I have been to for sure...but I actually had to sit around in a room for a while.  THen I ran over to the hospital to do the Glucose.  Went home and took the kids outside because it was actually NICE out!  We have a huge patio that is positioned in a way where leaves blow on all winter and then get stuck and don't blow off.  So I swept it all up and loaded 7 wheelbarrow loads of leaves and took them to the burn pile and dumped them.  Then I raked a bit more of our property.  Took a daughter to ballet.  Came home took kids back outside and raked a ton more leaves from our property.  Ran another daughter to ballet.  Did drive thru for dinner because it was just too nice to have gone in from outside earlier to cook!  Then I had to do school with the children because we didn't do it this morning.  THey did a few things on their own while I was at the dr but not all they were suppose to and they needed help with a few things.  THen ran out to get daughter from ballet.  Threw kids in the shower one after the other and put everyone in bed!  It was a whirlwind day!!
  • Holy cow, @cneiding!  You are a superstar!  All that accomplished with lack of sleep!

After work, I had mystery shopping to do.  (I do it on the side to make a few extra bucks or get free groceries or dinner for us.  Not a bad gig.)  Went to Michaels to look into framing a poem that my mom had hanging over my crib was I was little.  Went to Target to get stuff for the Easter baskets.  (My sister, fiance and I do them for each other.  We are some weird old people, lol.)  Went to the post office and pharmacy.  Came home and made myself dinner (even though I really wanted take out).  Now I have my feet up and am watching the ID channel.  No wonder I have weird dreams, lol!  Still have to pack as I am going to Vegas tomorrow.  Am hoping no one gives me hassle getting on the plane. I am not yet in the third trimester yet, but I am starting to bump.

@cneiding, you mentioned the glucose test.  Is this your first one?  Or do they do them later on in pregnancy?  I can't remember how far along you are, but I thought you were ahead of me.  Just want to know if I'm gonna have to take that test again later down the line.

  • cneiding you ARE a superstar for sure!!!  I'm exhausted just reading your post. lol  I was pretty productive last weekend but most days I'm not that productive. I work all day and I take kids to school and pick them up and do bath time and bedtime and all that. Usually I can sneak a couple loads of laundry in there too but I'm definitely not outside raking up leaves. :)  everything hurts too much! I swear my hips feel like there's a sumo wrestler in my belly.  They are SO sore!  Both of my kids love to snuggle up in our bed and watch a cartoon before bedtime. So usually around 7:30 we head in there and snuggle in with pillows and watch a little tv and then we go to bed.  I sit there.. and I do think part of it is the actual mattress.. but within minutes I can hardly move. I remember having really bad sciatic with my daughter but not all this hip pain! It's like all around my hips and upper thighs. It sucks!!

Cranky kids in the middle of the night is no fun either. That's how DD is a lot. Apparently, she was quite cranky this morning as well because I took her into her daycare room and this little boy turned and said Hi Olivia!!  And instead of saying hi.. she quickly turned to him and growled. lol I said be nice sweetie! And the teacher says .. oh she'll warm up.. she does that every day. lol

I only ever get one glucose test.  Its done between 28 and 30 weeks.  You had one ealier?  Perhaps they felt you were at risk for some reason?  The most common time for GD to show up is once the 3rd trimester begins and the toll of being pregnant is greatest on your body.  So if you had one earlier and passed, I would suspect you would get another.

Thanks for the info.  I took mine at my last appointment when I was 24 weeks.  Maybe because I'm carrying a few extra pounds?  Still, I have never even been borderline with sugar levels, not that my OBGYN would know that.

Well, I guess if I have to take another one I will.  It wasn't too bad.  Just a boring wait.

  • I am cranky too. DH and I decided to stay team green just like the 1st time. But we let MIL know last time by sending a letter from the Dr.'s office. This is my 2nd pregnancy. And I have decided not to tell anyone. This morning at ultrasound appointment DH tells me MIL is begging to find out.. why? because she wants to go shopping.  (insert eye roll here) Maybe I am over reacting due to pregnancy hormones.. but really, I am 40 and I am just hoping and praying I have a healthy baby and the priority is shopping for her?!

No way, I do secret shopping too!  Just had a free movie date night last night :) Started out for spending cash, back when I was just out of college. Now it's more of a fun excuse to do things we wouldn't normally pay for.

Cool!  I do it for a few extra bucks and some free groceries.  We also do some dinners out and some entertainment venues.  We definitely go to some nice places that we normally never would go to, mostly because of the expense.  :)

  • Hey hey now..what's all this mystery shopping about??  How do you start doing that?

You just go on to some of the reputable sites, submit an application and start shopping.  :)  The main downside is that you have to shell out your own money and some companies can take up to six weeks to reimburse you.

If you're interested, send me a message and I can tell you where you can check out some reputable sites. :)
