2 month vaccines = fussy boy

Took LO to get his shots today...he was in such a good mood up until. What are or have you done to help soothe? He will not let me put him down. I've given Tylenol and love on him as much as I can..DH is also out of town for the weekend so I'm having a hard time..the house will just stay messy until he gets back.

Re: 2 month vaccines = fussy boy

  • I just took my DD in for her 2mth shots today. As soon as we got home we got into pjs and cuddled in the recliner. We did the tylenol but other than loving on her the best I can...that's about all I have done. Oh and a bath to help with fever and the soreness in her legs. She just had another dose of tylenol and is asleep. Hopefully for awhile.

I don't remember my other girls being so fussy after their shots...but my youngest is 7yrs old so it is like being a new mom all over again.

  • A warm bath & warm lotion to massage baby's legs. If you breast feed: all the booby. If you FF: offer smaller bottles more frequently for the next couple days.

A shower while cuddling baby has always worked for us. The white noise, steam & snuggles are just what baby loves. Then PJ & more cuddles.

After I get a flu shot I feel crummy too.

  • He was back to his normal happy self today. He did want the boobies more often. Thanks for the suggestions!
  • I have to do this the first week in May! :( I will be coming back to this for these ideas then! Anything that helps emotionally prepare a FTM for babys first shots?
  • We just had LO's shots done on Monday and be has unbearable every since. He was up all night and now just continues to be fussy. Poor thing, I feel so bad for him.

My advice was after the shots and before dressing, take a few extra minutes and cuddle him! I am sure it is very dramatic for them and extra mommy loving is so deserved.
  • My mom suggested given the Tylenol before heading to the appt.
@klcarr19 make DH take them instead. Lol it's hard to see them so upset. However you are the one they want most the moment it happens.
  • We used to be told to give tylenol before shots with my other girls who are now 14, 12, and 7. But with our newest LO they say not to. Just soon after.
