Re: Is the crib ready?

  • I just packed up my crib so my LO would forget about it and sleep in her big girl bed. Success!!! The crib will come back up in sept. When baby is out of the bassinet.
  • Loading the player...
  • We aren't going to use a crib till she is around 3 months
  • It is in a box sitting in a room that needs to be cleared out to be the nursery
  • The only reason crib is ready for us is because we're using the one from DS and moving him to a twin bed lol I just have to put the one side back on because it's currently in day bed form.
  • Crib is ready, but there is no matress or bedding. LOL
  • Glad we built ours early because it needed time to air out, the varnish smells a little at first

Same with me... I had to build it myself as husband is not in country and won't be back until July so I thought I should get it done early and let it air out. The varnish smell was causing me to have a bad cough.

  • I don't have one yet, but finally decided on which one I want!

  • I think we picked one out, and my dad and stepmom will order it for us. We won't set it up for a while, though, or our cats would just take it over.
  • We are hoping to order ours soon, but don't have it yet. I think we've narrowed it down to 2 though or maybe 3, so that's progress.

  • Crib is up only bc we got a killer deal and a lit of reviews talked about the paint being scratched out of the box so I wanted to make sure since I wouldn't be able to return it thus far out.

  • Same here @NittanyPA I put it up to make sure it wasn't damaged and now it's just sitting there empty. Hopefully we can get a mattress soon
  • Was thinking about talking to DH about going to get one tonight and maybe see what bedding is out there. Or buy a pack n play. Idk I just wanna freaking shop man lol
  • Sorta/kinda/not really. The crib is in use by a 10 month old right now. I co-sleep the first three months with baby. So hopefully by the time the baby is ready for a crib, the 10 month old will be ready for a toddler bed.
  • Same here! But my bank account likes to slap me back to reality when I want to go shopping lol. I got the bedding figured out but debating if I want to do the whole comforter and everything or just some cute sheets.
  • I feel so behind! But I am waiting until after the shower to buy big items. I know we are having a pretty large shower because I have a lot of family so I don't want to buy anything until then! Plus I know we will have the baby in a co-sleeper for the first few months so won't need the crib for a while

We already have a crib from DS, so it's in pieces in LO room. No plans to set it up anytime soon.

  • hahahhahahahahaaaaa for real?!

No. Crib is in parts in our storage room. We'll assemble it in June when we do the guest room/toddler room switcharoo.

For what it's worth, when #1 was born, crib was still in a box. Husband assembled it the day after the birth. It takes like, 20 minutes. Nesting is one thing, jumping the gun is another.
  • My in-laws bought my husband and I a beautiful Pottery Barn Kids crib for our birthdays.... but it's still sitting in it's box in my kitchen. Hopefully my husband will have his brother over this weekend to build it.

My feelings exactly! I was grocery shopping the other day and picked up diapers and wipes just because they were there!
Our crib is up with a mattress, but the pad and crib sheet are still in their packaging. I plan on washing them and making the crib a few weeks before baby is due.

  • So basically your saying we all jumped the gun cause we have our cribs up?

Not everybody wants to come home after having a baby and put the crib together. I know that's not what I want my husband to be doing. Instead I want him to be spending time with his new son and our other children before he goes back to work. He isn't taking any time off except for when I'm in the hospital.
  • Our cribs are set up, complete with sheets and all but only because my in-laws showed up at the crack of dawn on Sat and insisted on "setting up" the nursery. I was too tired to fight it but my husband tried and it resulted in major MIL drama--needless to say, unfortunately, they will not be asked to visit anytime soon. I know they mean well, but the way they go about it is down right mean and we don't really need that right now.
  • I put my crib and changing table together on Monday! I would have done it in January when I got it except we needed new carpet first. I have the mattress in it but haven't put any bedding in it cause I don't have it yet. Someone bought it off my registry but have to wait till my shower to get it :( that's ok though. My cats will just make their bed out of it anyway.
  • Maybe it's just the second kid blahs, but I'd prefer not to dust an unused crib for four months.
  • I was looking for the hell no option! I'm so behind on getting stuff for this baby!
  • We have all baby stuff in storage until we move in 3 weeks, then the nursery can finally be set-up
  • I'm with you @expletive baby.... My baby comes in July and I don't have a crib. I don't want to see one for the next few months either. Besides, in my culture, the crib is put up AFTER the baby is born.

The crib is ready, bedding and the rest of the room isn't
  • We are getting the crib from the brother, so whenever my niece is ready to pass it down we will take it. No hurry though...my baby will be in a bassinet for the first couple months
  • The crib and bedding are ready. My husband surprised me by doing it while I was at work one day.
  • No crib. I refuse to shop for anything until May at the soonest. I don't plan on buying a crib until sometime after delivery. Will use nursery system (just learned that term for play yard/ bassinet/ changing table) several months at first.
  • I voted "crib is in box" but really it's not in a box, it's sitting in the kids' closet waiting to be assembled. It was DS's before.

  • We will most likely be moving in May so it's in the garage right now. DD has been in a toddler bed for 2 months now to give her time to adjust.

  • The crib I just ordered will remain in the box until late September. We are moving to Chicago 6 weeks after babies due date. And yes it is stressing me out!
