Agggh! Anyone else in this boat? Either way I'll be happy I'm so excited!!!!! Last 2 times we had to go on chlomid and tried for 2 years this time it happened first "try"

Re: Anyone with twins?

  • I am wondering right now myself, only because my symptoms this time around seem severe compared to my last 2. Extreme thirst, ultra tired, lots of acne, and I feel like I have never peed this much in my life! We will see, they aren't getting me an ultrasound until 10 weeks.

I am pregnant with twins and conceived naturally. This was supposed to be my third and final baby and surprise...It's my third and fourth. They are identical, but the doctors are not sure yet if they each have their own amniotic sac. I'm praying they do, because if not, pregnancy is much more high risk and there is a much higher chance of losing the babies and/or delivering prematurely.

I have always been curious about how they tell in utero if the babies are identical or fraternal.   How do they know?

PS - I have no reason to believe I am having twins.   My first appointment is 4/15 but I am assuming there is only one in there.   I have always been fascinated by twins though!    Congrats to you momma's!

If they share a placenta they are identical, which is mono /di (Same placenta, different sacs) or mono/mono (Same placenta and same sac).

Di/di (separate everything) has a 3p% chance which is found through blood testing.

@snmom Sending prayers. I had mono/di boys my first pregnancy, they did end up having TTTS so I'll be praying extra hard for you.

This pregnancy is a singleton pregnancy for us, at least so far. Good luck!
  • Thanks for explaining!
  • I'm 8 weeks pregnant with non-identical twins conceived through ivf treatment. Over the moon but so nervous as ive miscarried twice before. X
  • I am having twins. My husband lost his job in December and I lost mine in January. We had iui done and I was on letrozol and I had 3 eggs. God worked it out and we're having twins :) even though were unemployed at the time were excited and so very thankful. I found out at 6 weeks we have 2 and they're fraternal :)

amh0411712, thanks for the prayers. I'm so nervous and scared, but trying to keep the faith that everything will be ok and that I can do this.

Prayers you don't have to go through this. One of my best friends did with her identical twins, as did a college friend.
  • I'm pregnant with twins! We conceived naturally and they do not run in the family. We're still trying wrap our heads around it! Quite the surprise but couldn't be more excited! First time parents too! Can't wait!
  • We conceived through IVF, they tranferred 2 embryos, only 1 stuck, and then that 1 split and we're having identical twins! Pretty crazy. They're pretty sure we are having mono/di twins but we go in to see a specialist next week. Snmom I completely understand the anxiety, as we went through the same thing until we recently found out there is *likely* a membrane between the two. Big hugs and prayers your way!
