I have heard both sides and I'm still torn on what to do. I have bought 2 different bumpers and neither fit right in the crib. I'm kinda over them.. But what do y'all think?
As PP have noted, if you use the search function you'll find some good threads with LOTS of insight on this! But since you asked, we will not be using them. DD is too precious to risk anything for the sake of "cuteness" (although there are some super cute bumpers out there!).
No need for bumpers.... Don't understand the risk... If you have one, put it up until baby sleeps in the crib because they make for a pretty nursery picture but that is their only function.
From the American Academy of Pediatrics - "Bumper pads should not be used in cribs. There is no evidence that bumper pads prevent injuries, and there is a potential risk of suffocation, strangulation or entrapment."

I use it for decoration, can't help it. But baby will not sleep in the crib with bumpers. I used the mesh ones when my son was getting bigger and his legs kept getting stuck in the rails causing him to wake up and he even had some bruises. But he was old enough to roll away if needed.
I receive the mesh bumpers as a gift from a friend. She recommended them because her son was always sticking his arms and feet through the railing. Which I can see that! But we aren't putting them on the crib till our little one gets bigger and starts rolling and moving around on her own. I even feel like bumpers aren't even cute on cribs.
Don't even mesh around with them for decoration, what if you decided to use the crib for a short period early only. Its just not safe. Most crib sheets have cute sides now that look better than bumpers anyway, much less expensive too. https://www.skiphop.com/category/nursery.html
I'd say no to mesh too. We used mesh bumpers for DS for about 2 weeks around 5 month I think, he was getting his arms and legs caught and screaming. The worked great but then he learned to crawl and was pulling up on them, pulling them down. They are ugly and a pain to install. I did not keep them for this time around, it was such a short period we'll just tough it out until this one figures out how to untangle himself from the crib bars.
