MyBabyBeat App...anyone else tried it?

I just found out about this app and decided to download it ($4.99 in the App Store). I gave it a try and am pretty sure I had success. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it and had any luck? I know it's not a medical device and I shouldn't rely on it 100%, but it has honestly relieved some of the anxiety I've been experiencing between appointments. I was able to find my own heartbeat pretty easily and placed my phone on other areas of my stomach just to be sure the sound that was picked up wasn't just digestion or blood flow and what I heard was very similar to the heartbeat we heard at my first ultrasound.

I have an android, and this app doesnt seem available for anything other than iDevices. I've been eyeing some similar apps though, Im just scared to try because even though I know it's highly unlikely it'll work properly, if I cant get a heartbeat showing up I'll be afraid something's wrong..

  • Loading the player...
  • I just tried it and I believe it works. I found my heart beat easily and then found babies (:
  • Android version?
  • I was going to get this app. But I read some reviews that said when they put it to a pillow, the pillow had a heartbeat. Also the HR for the baby matched the rate of the mother. If you put it to a pillow does it have a beat?
  • It would be amazing if this really worked but I don't think cell phones can really pick up a heartbeat. I think they would have to have doppler or ultrasound technology built in...I don't know for sure though...just my thoughts.
  • I didn't trust it at first either, but for $5 I figured it was worth the risk. I tried it on several other places to see if it picked up something that wasn't really there, and didn't hear anything resembling a heartbeat, only static. I also found that the baby's heartbeat was much quicker than mine (as expected) so I didn't have that issue either.
  • I had the same feelings as jordankl1987 - but still dooped myself into spending the $5.  First, the app tells you not to use until you are well into your third trimester.  I tried it anyway - and I have to say its kind of whack.  I had trouble picking up my own heartbeat...a lot of static.  I tried to find baby's but as expected (since I'm only 13 weeks) nothing really...I think I was hearing my own heartbeat through my stomach.  I ended up deleting the app - I think it would end up causing more harm than good (as in drive me crazy if god forbid I couldn't find anything).  I'll leave it to the professionals with the medically approved equipment! I didn't have any app or even purchase a at home dopler with my first. I was content with kick counting...if their moving their hearts are beating! :)

I'll have to try it out
  • Yessss I used it and it worked ! I'm 12 weeks today .. I totally could hear it .. It was here and there because the baby is still small but it definitely worked so cool :) definitely worth $5!!
  • For those of you who heard it- are you relatively small? I'm a plus-sized gal and I have a feeling it won't work on me...
  • @nperezwhite I am definitely not super petite large-xlarge in tops and size 10 in pants before I got pregnant ... Not considered plus size but definitely curvy and have some meat on me and it for sure worked :)
  • @pinkj4182 I tried it on my pillows and couch and nothing happened :)
  • I have the baby scope app. I'm almost 12 weeks and I can hear the baby. I also have an iPhone.
  • @nperezwhite I am by no means small and was able to hear it just fine. I will be 11 weeks tomorrow. You should give it a shot if you're interested! It was well worth the money in my opinion
  • I think it's major bullshit. I was just doing it and was like aw my baby! Then I put my phone to the mattress and after a minute and moving it around... Same sound
  • I tried it using the app on my husband. Apparently he is expecting too. App not worth it.

I am only 100 lbs and it didn't work for me - I call shenanigans, lol.
  • I got it at 36ish weeks and it totally worked.
