Trying to Get Pregnant

Ok so I spoke to my RE about my temps

I spoke to my RE about my temps and she thinks that I ovulated cd14... well we didn't bd that day or night because I was sick instead I stayed up all night long until about 5am and then temped at 6:30 am... well she said that even though i may have ovulated on cd14 I still have a chance at getting pregnant since we bd on cd 15 and cd16.. I had no idea this was possible... Has anyone heard of this? she also said based on my temps that she doesn't feel the need to do a progesterone check on 7dpo so I will wait til April 10th to see if this miracle did occur...

  • I suggest you pick up the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  It has a lot of information such as this that will make your TTC journey a lot less confusing. Good luck to you.

  • She's giving you room for error since there's no way to be 100% sure you ovulated in Cd 14.

You need to have sex BEFORE ovulation for the best chance of conception.
  • Also , I can't stress enough that even though you're working with an RE that you need to gain some basic knowledge on how your body works

I agree! I thought I had plenty of knowledge but obviously there is so much more that I need to learn.

Off topic question... I've heard so many different responses.  But about how many days can sperm survive?

I believe it is 12 hr to 3-4 days depending on CM quality.  I'm looking through TCOYF for confirmation.

I believe this largely depends on your quality of CM but I think in general, most agree that they can survive up to 5 days.

5 days. You ideally want to have sex in the 4 days before ovulation, on the day of, and the day after for the possibility of error.

  • Like Alex said, o+1 is only included in the fertile period because calculations of ovulation day might be off by one. The egg only lives 12-24 hours. It's not technically possible to get pregnant from sex the day after ovulation.
But o-3 is possible. Just not the best. My first pregnancy was from o-3. You can see it on my July 2009 chart.
    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

@27alex is right. It is 5 days, but it does depend on the type of CM you have.  You need fertile CM in order for the sperm to survive anywhere close to 5 days.

Well, you would know by checking your cm everyday...
    Did you check it?
I think you should order TCOYF for one day delivery. :)

Yes, that's what my temp showed. Unfortunately, your temp does not show that. But like I said your temp could've wrong since you only slept an hour. :(
But also clomid may have messed up your opks. Clomid can cause false positives I think.

This depends on the person. I'm posting my chart as well so you can see how OPKs can differ.

  • You can also start reading through the charting course on Fertility Friend. While not as extensive of a knowledge base as TCOYF, it has good coverage of the basics.
  • Did you check internally? I never get EWCM unless I check right at my cervix.
