November 2015 Moms

How is everyone telling there family the news and when???? Would love to hear everyone's ideas!

Hi! We're gonna tell our family on Easter about baby #3! My kids are wearing big brother and big sister(AGAIN) shirts and will tell the news through them!!!

Re: How is everyone telling there family the news and when???? Would love to hear everyone's ideas!

  • Only our 4 kids and a couple of local friends know at this point. We are waiting to tell family after our first appointment next week. We don't have any great idea for it, but maybe a text with a photo of the ultrasound or a photo of a positive pg test. All of our family is across the U.S. on the east coast.

  • We have already told our parents and now are waiting for our first appointment to tell anyone else. We plan to tell our nieces and nephews (there's 5 of them ages 5-10) after Easter, hopefully on or around our first wedding anniversary. We are going to have them get together for a picture and tell them to say "cheese" and then tell them to say "Ashley and Preston are having a baby!" I'm excited to catch their reactions on camera. They are going to be SO excited!! This is our first baby. :)
  • We are hopefully putting a sonogram picture in an Easter egg. We have our first ultrasound on Friday so if all goes well that will be the plan.

  • I'm 18 and this is my first baby. I'm still in highschool about to graduate in June Thoe so I'm ready and overjoyed for this baby. How I'm gunna tell my parents Thoe and his adoptive moms hmmm well Idk yet since I'm young there reactions will probly be a lot different than many of yours. Any advice mommas? :o
  • I want to tell my family at Easter, but not sure how yet. It'll be my parents, brothers and Grandma, amongst others (my husband told his mom today). Maybe putting baby items in Easter eggs? I'll have any suggestions!

(Btw my hubby told his mom with a Onsie that said "Who needs a bunny when Grandma gives me candy?" It's the first in both our families)

  • This is our first, and we have a dog so I made a shirt that said only child expiring Nov 2015 and put it on him and took a pic and framed it! :)
  • We're putting blueberries in easter eggs, because that's how big the baby will be on easter! We're planning another announcement for the middle/end of May to post on Facebook.
  • I am graduating from college in May. We have already told our parents, but to inform the rest of the family and all of our friends at my graduation party my husband is going to hand me a "gift." I'm going to pull out a banner that says "we're pregnant!"
  • I sent this to my mom out of state and told her to expect a package on x day and call me when she got it. She LOVED it. https://www.etsy.com/listing/213571715/baby-announcement-you-are-going-to-be-a?

We wore these when visiting MIL out of state and she noticed right away--it was cute. https://www.etsy.com/listing/205234867/2-soft-funny-parents-to-be-t-shirts-t?

I will announce to the rest of my small extended family when they fly in for my MBA graduation--I will be almost 14 weeks. Haven't decided quite how yet.

I will call my sis a week before that to tell her. She's a sensitive Sally, so I have no idea how shell react. So I want to keep it to myself for a while still, but let her know before everyone else so she has a chance for it to sink in and decide how she'll react publicly.

And I'll announce on FB the same weekend. Our last name also happens to be an object that there is a BIG one of, so it'll be like a riddle. "What's the opposite of this?" "Baby lastname"

Oh what a good idea! I might do this, too! My Sweet Pea will be a Blueberry on Easter, too! :)

  • We told the parents this weekend.  I took some selfies with the pregnancy test stick and made a little collage photo and wrote on it coming Thanksgiving.  I text it to my mom while we were talking with her at her house and watched her reaction.  She was like what is this...are y'all serious?!  For his parents it's their first grandchild so we gave them both a Christmas ornament.  One said grandma and one said grandpa.  We had to ask him mom what does it say...and she said grandma...she thought a few seconds and then said "are gonna have a baby?!" She's waited a long time for a grandchild so she is really excited!  We haven't told anyone else yet and told them they couldn't tell anyone.
  • I went classic. Gave my mom and sister a onesie in a gift bag.
  • My mom already has 3 grandchildren and they call her Nana. I found a photo album at target last year that says "Nana's Blessings" on the front and snagged it up in anticipation of getting pregnant when my husband came home from deployment. I'm going to fill it with pictures of her 3 grandchildren and then the ultra sound pic. Happy early Mothers Day!

  • @SweetMelissa4-Those announcements on etsy are so cute! I might have to copy you!
  • I made up my Easter announcements yesterday-- I got little plastic eggs and put pacifiers inside! One for each of my parents, and my grandma!

  • We have made little boxes for our parents with booties a teddy and a dummy in, and a note asking them to keep them safe image
Looking forward to seeing there faces when they open them
We have a photo ready to announce to friends of mine and hubby's shoes at the door with a pairing baby booties in between saying baby due nov 2015
It's all very exciting I can't wait seems like ages away until the big reveal lol x
  • We told our family when I got a positive test. My husband and I have been trying for 5.5 years and we had iui and now were having twins and so excited.
  • My grandmother makes handmade blankets for every new person in the family, my husband got his and I got a new one around the time of our wedding. I have secretly learned how to make them as well, so, I've made her one and a few weeks from now at Sunday dinner with my family we plan to give it to her and say, "We thought you might like something to keep you warm while you make us another blanket. We're going to need it by November!"

We've been thinking of ideas of ways to tell my in-laws and I really like the blueberry in the Easter egg idea so I might have to steal that!
  • This is how we told our parents... Still working on a fab idea for everyone else.
My hubby told his sisters by wearing a hysterical tshirt today
  • I bought an "I'm going to be a big sis" shirt for DD and put it on her on our descent to our tropical vacation a week ago. DH was initially confused but eventually got it and was excited.

When we got back this weekend I washed our clothes and forgot it in the dryer. Today my MIL is taking care of DD in our home and takes out our laundry to fold. I totally forgot that shirt was in there. Instead of ignoring it and waiting to be told, she instead send DH and I a picture message of the shirt asking if we forgot to tell her something. WTF. I came up with a pretty good story about how it's a gift for my friend's daughter who will be a big sis in sept and that I washed it because DD spilled some stuff on it. I'm not sure she bought it but I feel like she should have never said anything in the first place. Did she really want to find out over text???? I don't think so. She ruined her surprise and now I don't want to give her one at all. Maybe I'm being petty but I'm PISSED X(

  • We are visiting my out of state parents in law in about 2 weeks, so we will tell them in person then. I'll prolly ask my dad to meet me for lunch or dinner that week and let him know as well. I was going to wait to tell the rest of the family at Mothers Day (which is also what I did 2 yrs ago - these November babies!!). I didnt really have any cutsie idea since this is my 2nd baby.

  • Since I live in a different state from my parents, and I'm their first daughter to have a baby I couldn't wait to tell them. I Facetimed them, and told them I thought they'd like to see what I'm currently reading and held up "What to expect when you're expecting". I've also told close friends and my sister, so they understand my behavior. My husband hasn't told anyone in his family and just a couple friend we share. He wants to wait to surprise his mom on her birthday at the end of April. Which makes conversations around her difficult.
  • I bought a mason jar with sand and little baby confetti that said, "it's a boy/girl." It also had little inside metal trinkets. I had my husband open the gift by pouring it in a bowl . He thought it was a candle at first. He had his head in his hands and was in shock!
  • We got large plastic eggs and painted then and wrote baby hatching November 2015. Then we are going to wrap them in an Easter basket and give them to our families on Easter.
