I've had a really bad sore throat and cough for the past few days and it seems its only getting worse Is any one else sick too and what medicine are you taking to help??
I fought off a mild cold last week. I took Tylenol for discomfort and Benadryl and lemon cough drops. I was exhausted all week! I've had two previous colds this pregnancy that were more severe, and took DayQuil and robitussin dm for phlegm. I didn't get a ton of relief, but it was better than nothing.
I am still fighting off pneumonia. They had me on antibiotics and now an inhaler. Both prescription, so can't help you if you are looking for over the counter meds.
Also been taking halls cough drops to help with the cough at times.
I would call your doc. They'll let you know what otc meds are safe, give rx meds if necessary, and give you indicators for when to call them if it gets worse, etc.
No fun- hope you feel better.
I had a cold at 30 wks, bronchitis and influenza b at 31 weeks, stomach flu at 32 weeks and by 33 wks was on bed rest because of exhaustion low amniotic fluid...
I've had a bad cold all weekend... Someone recommended that I drink lots of hot water with lemon and/or lemonade and it think it really actually worked. I feel like it really helped clear up my runny nose and sinus symptoms. (But maybe it's a fluke?) Would definitely recommend to others who are battling colds and want to stay clear of meds.
I've had a bad cold for the past three weeks and am finally starting to feel better. Hubby had the same thing and got some lovely drugs to help that cut his down quite a bit. But no such luck for us preggos. The doc told me the only things I could take were Benadryl (helped during the really sneezy/running nose time), Tylenol (I took PM at nights to sleep), Robitussin (did nothing to help), Neti Pot, and cough drops with tons of water and lots of humidifier.
I have had a head cold for a couple weeks. I saw my doctor on Thursday and she said I needed to be home resting so she wrote me a note to excuse me from work. It was nice to have those days to rest even though it put me behind on my workload. I still have the congestion but not as bad as it was. I'm hoping it will go away this week. I've been using the Neti pot which has helped and Tylenol at night. It seems to be taking a lot longer to get over it than it would if I wasn't pregnant. It's no fun to be 35 weeks pregnant with a cold and I hope all of you feel better soon!
Call your OB and tell them what's going on. I've had multiple sinus and eat infections this pregnancy. The last ear infection threw me into premature labor. Should have told my OB about the infection earlier! Hope you feel better.
I'm currently diffusing YL essential oils (Thieves & Purification) while my husband and I both sit on the couch trying to get over sore throats & sinus issues. I've also been gargling warm salt water with a drop of Thieves. My husband won't try that and is taking DayQuil instead, and I'm having better results than he is.
I'm sick. Home today from work. I have a sinus infection and laryngitis which makes it incredibly difficult to teach. A friend suggested Buckwheat honey, so I'm going to give it a try.
Caught something today... Not sure if it's allergies or a cold but either way it's frustrating. This will be my third go around with a sickness this pregnancy and previously I was given the green light for Tylenol multi symptom which helped.
Was in the ER yesterday for horrible cramping. Doc said it sounded like stomach flu, which I thought was weird. Within 1/2 hour of being there, stuff was coming out of both end. He was right. No fun.

I had some really minor cold symptoms over the weekend, which were really nbd, but now the congestion has set in and combined with general rhinitis and being 8 months, I'm miserable. Even my faithful humidifier has barely touched it. Last night I got desperate from lack of sleep and took a Claritin, which I wasn't expecting to help because it's an allergy medicine, but it actually did and I was finally able to sleep. I'll try it again tonight if things aren't looking any better.
I had a gastrointestinal virus yesterday, thought I was either going to due or go into early labor. Fortunately, I just slept a lot, drank a lot of water & could only eat bananas. I took two Tylenol which helped me relax enough to sleep. I hope I get to keep my job after taking a sick day. I didn't get a note from my doctor yet....need to do that.
I'm so sick. It started almost 5 days ago and is just draining my energry. I am congested in my sinuses and my chest, with a dry cough that feels like it's trying to break something up in my lungs. My doctor told me robitussin DM is safe and otherwise just stay hydrated, get plenty of rest, and try using a humidifier. It sucks and I just feel like between being so congested and having baby girl sitting so high it's tough to breath. I got robitussin night time today so tonight I'm going to take that and rub some Vicks on my chest and hopefully it'll help.

No fun- hope you feel better.
