Bassinet?

Curious what folks are planning to use for a bassinet/ night time sleep option when baby first arrives. I was thinking of getting a pack n play with a built in bassinet but there are so many different options it's kind of overwhelming. My first always wanted to sleep in a reclining position rather than flat on his back, so I'm thinking it would be nice to have something with an option for sleeping more upright or flat depending on babies preference...

Re: Bassinet?

  • We got the Evenflo BabySuite Deluxe (pretty much a pack n play with a built-in bassinet and changing table). It had great reviews and was only $77 on Amazon.

  • My mom purchased a pottery barn bassinet when I was pregnant with DD second hand so we will be using that again. But since this LO is a cleftie he might need to sleep more at an angle so we will get a rock n play (clefties are known for having bad reflux)
Please excuse typos....auto correct hates me. =)

  • FTM myself... Can't decide on pack n play or bassinet

  • Do they have to sleep in a bassinet ? Can you just put them in the crib ? FTM sorry if that's a stupid question.
  • We went back and forth and finally decided on the pack and play with bassinet. It's more functional. If you do go with a bassinet get one that changes into something else when the baby gets too big to sleep in it. Babies r us has one that changes into a nice toy box.
  • Im just using the crib but I am ising the breathable crib wrap to cut the crib in half.

No, they don't have to sleep in a bassinet. It all depends on how you want them to sleep. I prefer to have the first few months in my bedroom with me and DH so we are going to purchase a pack'n'play that has a bassinet in it and he will sleep there for awhile. Then when we're ready, we'll transition to the crib.
  • We will be using a bassinet for the first little while until she gets a bit bigger and then we will eventually transition her to her crib. I suggest not doing any co-sleeping if you want him/her to sleep in their own crib.

  • We bought a rock and play sleeper but then a friend gave me a basinet. So I guess we will use the basinet at night and the rock and play during the day.

  • I will be using the bassinet that my parents used for both my sister and me. We'll use that and then transition baby into the crib.
  • We're planning to get a bassinet. We'll have a pack n play but our room is small and a bassinet takes up less space. My son slept in a pack n play until he was about 6 months old and then moved to a crib. He was a pretty easy going kid as far as sleeping went. Hopefully baby girl will be a good sleeper too!

  • My son had reflux so slept best in his rock n play next to my bed. For these two babies I plan on breast feeding so I am getting a full size arms reach co-sleeper. After my son grew out of the rock n play I used a pack n play for him. I had a regular bassinet but only used it the first 2 nights. Was a waste of money!
  • The acid reflux made me think... I am getting a bassinet, but also registered for an elevation wedge that goes under the pad.

I am planning on using this too! Did a lot of research and this seemed like the best option for us.
