My numbers went up yesterday and have been high 4 out of the last 6 readings. Ugh. I'm annoyed.
I'm getting kind of tired of this. I'm ready for the next month to go quickly, even though we are not ready at all!

My doctor decided I need medication on Monday and apparently I'm allergic to glyburide. Long story short I have to shoot up with insulin twice a day now. Yesterday was my first full day with it and my dinner number was almost the highest I've seen yet. So frustrating still. Today has been much better. Totally hoping it continues this trend of good numbers from here on out.

Urg another bad night with my glucose number. I've been doing great on weekdays, but messed up big time this weekend. Everytime I go out to eat or go to a party (niece bday) my numbers are awful. I don't go too crazy but I have a hard time saying no to food that are tasty:(. I need to be better because my poor baby is probably paying for it as well as my body. I guess I just need to not go out to eat for another 2 months:(.

Anyone else starving?!? I am trying to eat a lot of protein to fill me up, but no matter what I eat I feel like I am starving to death.

What are the high numbers that you are talking about? What's your highest number and what did you eat?

Hi ladies I also have gd. I have a quick question has any of your doctor's discussed inducing your labor at about 38 or 39 weeks because of the gd?
  • Options
Interesting I have had a severe head cold the past two weeks and have had some of my best numbers so far.  I think because I can barely eat and my portions are pretty small because I am eating the same food just a lot less of it.  Well I guess there has been some bright side to this misery...

My OB has already told me I would be induced at 39 weeks because of my GD.  It was one of the first things I was told upon diagnosis and I'll get put on the hospital calendar at 37 weeks.

I was told last week that the latest time for induction would be 39 weeks because of GD, but I have other high risk reasons to be induced sooner. I was at maternal/ fetal clinic last week, after all said and done I have 2-NST a week along with a ultrasound every week, nutrionalist, GD doctor, and regular OB. Is anybody else's last month and a half of pregnancy this hectic?

My doctor will not induce early unless my Gd is uncontrolled and I require meds or insulin. I'll be allowed to go to my due date or even past as long as it's being controlled by diet.

My doc has told me I will be induced at 39 weeks, even though baby is growing fine and my GD is very well controlled.

I don't know if you are talking to me or the ali0608. My highest number is 184, it was from 2 eggrolls, a few Doritos chip, a few bite of ice-cream cake, and some short ribs. I didn't eat any other carbs like fried rice and etc just to avoid bad numbers but it went over target anyway. What is your highest number and what you had to eat that spiked the gl reading?

My highest has been 135. But recently many numbers have been in the 120s after eating meals that before got me around 100. :(

My breakfast used to consistently give me 90-95. Now is 100-105.

I only have 6 weeks left and I've been diet controlled since 16 weeks. I just want to make it just a little longer!

Wow! Your numbers are really good. Are these numbers after 2 hours of starting a meal? So you are not on any med? What kind of food do you eat? Please share:) you are doing great by the way, keep up the good work.

My highest was 151 after I had some multi-grain Cheerios the second day I was testing. Breakfast has definitely been a challenge bc I'm usually running out the door but the past two weeks I've been eating eggs and a piece of toast every morning and my numbers have been in the 80s. I find that it's really helpful to keep up with my snacks in order to avoid getting super hungry. Overall my numbers have been pretty good so far and my ob hasn't mentioned getting induced- probably bc she knows I will flip out haha

My high numbers 170+ have all been around Asian food - pho, rice noodles, egg rolls. My nutritionist says there is just a lot of sugar in the sauces.

Omg! That's what I've been noticing too. Especially Chinese food, even when I had broccoli & beef, sounds healthy right? Wrong! Must be from the sauces they use which is so sweet. What is a go GD friendly restaurant? I haven't found one that doesn't spike my sugar.

No meds yet. I'm sure they are coming. My doctors are pretty strict. Especially since my numbers have been awesome.

For breakfast, I eat two pieces of Multigrain bread and two scrambled eggs.

If I eat out, I usually get a burger and side salad.

I usually pay attention to my snacks to keep my blood sugar stable.

Omg that's what I eat for breakfast too and it work, when I try other things my gl would spiked.
I was sick of whole grain bread and two eggs in the morning. When I tried to change it up, it didn't work out so I'm just going to stick to what works.
What do you mean when you say you watch your snacks ?
You will be fine, if your diets alone is working then you GD is not as bad. For me even when I followed the diet n exercise to the T but the dinner and fasting were always over target. Doctor said it wasn't me or what I'm not doing, just my body and how they reacted to hormones. They gave me pills for dinner and just started taking one before bed, it seem to be working:)

OMG! I know!  I had scheduled all my final appoitments with my OB but my maternal fetal health office wanted me to start 2x a week NST and a BPP twice a week starting next week.  The fetal health folks said I could get them done at my OB (both located at the same hospital campus) but my OB's nurse said it was best to have them done by the same office for consistency, so I have 3 appointments a week every other week!  Naturally, my OB told me last week that of course I could have one of the NSTs or BPP done at the OB office rather than have three appointments, but now I have things scheduled and it just seems too much of a hassle to change things.  Thank god it's convenient to get to from work...

Have any of you ladies had a random high number day?

All week my fasting number has been in the 80's, then today it was 113. by FAR the highest I've ever gotten! Then at lunch, I had a 2 small pieces of breaded chicken, asparagus, and small about of brown rice (a lunch that would usually get me in the 110-120 range) and it sent me to 144.

Its kinda freaking me out, and I hope its just a weird phenomenon. Hoping my dinner number gets back to normal!

I can't remember who suggested Breyer's smart carbs icecream but thank you so much! Omg it was heavenly and it didn't spike my glucose. I'm so glad I tried it and knowing I could eat it when I have my crazy sweet tooths.
    Thank you:)

Yes my doctor said they will induce the beginning of the 39th week so baby doesn't get too big.

That was me I'm glad I could pass that on! That ice cream is the only thing that has kept me going!! I look forward to it lol :)

I love that ice cream and cannot live without it! Is everybody getting induced at 39? I talked to my dr yesterday and she said they would never induce before 40 weeks even if baby is big! It goes against everything I heard from other people. Confused mama here!

Thanks again, it's going to keep my sanity to get to be able to treat myself every now and then without messing up my numbers:)

I go to the doctor on Monday, but I get the impression that I am not being induced at 39 weeks. They just scheduled me for an appointment/ultrasound on my actual due date. Don't think they would've done that if they induced at 39 weeks. I have my 32 week growth ultrasound on Monday, so we'll see if that changes things.

I was induced at my old practice at 39 weeks. This doctor says she won't induce until 40 weeks unless my numbers get out of control and baby is predicted really big. I hope she sticks to that. I have so much to do in such a short time! This baby needs to stay put!

Just had my ultrasound on Monday (I was 33w6d) and baby girl is measuring right on track. I'm really relieved and hoping that they'll let me go full term. I have a follow up with my doctor on Wed so I guess I'll find out then.

Otherwise, my GD is okay. I'm finding if I eat a late dinner my fasting numbers tend to be higher. And my job threw me a baby shower yesterday ... So of course I ate everything causing my numbers to be off the rails all day. Other than that I'm just trying to stick to the plan until she gets here.

(I'm really glad we have this thread. It's so helpful to see what others are experiencing and to be able to support each other. Good luck, mamas!)

My numbers are completely out of control. I'm on glyburide 3x a day. I follow my diet as best I can. I can eat the exact same thing and get all different numbers. I am extremely frustrated. I go to the high risk dr again tmrw to start on insulin. Yesterday I had sugar in my urine. My numbers are going up to 250 and down to 55. Anyone have out of control diabetes like this? It's literally making me sick.

I'm sorry to hear that. I am on that med. 2 time a day. At first my fasting glucose was always higher no matter what I eat, and dinner number was almost always higher than target so my doctor prescribed one pill before dinner and one before bed. How far along are you? My doctor told me my GD could get worse as the pregnancy progress so sometimes people have to up the strength. Don't be too hard on yourself, I know it's hard but hang in there. We are almost there:)

I'm t2 diabetic and was on tablets only before preg but am up to 5 insulin shots a day now. I'm 33 + 6 and if it helps anyone, it is normal for blood sugars to rise fairly substantially in the last couple of months of preg. The placenta causes insulin resistance,Infact if you are close to your due date and your blood sugars start to suddenly get much better after being consistently poor/the same, it could mean that your placenta is beginning to break down (best to see your specialist if you have much lower numbers than you are used to over a period of a few days)

Thanks girl! I'm on before breakfast, before lunch and at bed. It's been progressively getting worse as my pregnancy progresses. I'm 34+5 right now. Getting induced at 39 weeks. I am super hard on myself about it.. so thank you for being so supportive.
