Daily Symptoms Thread - 3/30

edited March 2015 in June 2015 Moms
We seem to have a lot of new posters right now - first of all, welcome! Secondly, to try to keep the board from getting clogged up with similar posts about things like heartburn and round ligament pain, we have a daily symptoms thread. Since we're all pregnant and we're all expecting our babies in June, we all have pretty similar symptoms, so we just try to talk about them here so we can leave the board open for other topics.

So, please share how you're feeling / what you're experiencing today with us here! :)

Starting to get more and more pains in my stomach from little things like walking or trying to switch sleeping positions :( I hate having to switch sides as it feels like trying to steer a cruise ship, poorly!

I also nicked myself trying to shave my nethers yesterday! Flyin' blind over here!

Same here! I feel so uncomfortable sleeping on one side, but the act of switching is so uncomfortable/awkward that I usually just choose to deal with it haha.

I also attempted shaving "down there" yesterday but gave up pretty quickly. I officially cannot see a darn thing below my belly when standing and the thought of cutting myself in that particular area terrifies me... DH is just going to have to deal for a while!

  • Insomnia, insomnia, insomnia! I've always been a night owl, but good grief. It's catching up to me. Forgot to try the Unisom last night, but definitely trying it tonight. ;)
  • Had an issue with shaving as well that is giving me some serious greif! Ended up with an ingrown hair that seems to have gotten infected so even shifting positions in bed is the most excruciating task. At least I already had an appointment today so doc can hopefully give me something to take care of this!
Could be because of that darn hair but I Aldo just can NOT get comfortable in bed! Just feel so achey all the time!
In the home stretch ladies!!! Hope we can all stick it out until the end!
  • Okay, STM here. But seriously, FTM question. This little girl is stressing me out with her lack of movement. She was CRAZY on Saturday, and yesterday I was sooo active around the house cleaning, and playing with DS that I didn't really sit to notice. As soon as I went to bed, I felt 3 little blips, but then I slept all night other than my potty breaks.

Now this morning again, I haven't noticed anything. It's DRIVING ME CRAZY. I don't want to have to go in, but at the same time I just worry why her patterns have been different? GAH!

Anyone with similar concerns? Again, I think I'm not looking for advice, just putting it out there. Ever since last week's post with the loss, I've been overthinking things.

Besides the movement, just acne popping up left and right, and constant bathroom breaks! :)

I've been overly aware of my usually-active LO's calm periods lately too - hard not to be after last week! Drinking ice cold water seems to perk her up, as does eating in general. FTM so perhaps this is overly cautious but since you're worried, maybe wait until this afternoon and if you still haven't felt anything, call your doctor? Peace of mind is important!

  • At the OB for 3 hour gestational diabetes test, im starving and they have Food Network showing on sll TVs! Grrrrrr...hoping to get squeezed in to talk about this intense rib pain. Im thinking it's related to the gall bladder.
  • I'm so tired as I didn't sleep worth a crap again last night. I'm so tired of sleeping on my side. I woke up around 3 this morning with pain from my left hip all the way to my foot. It hurt so bad it was all I could do to walk to the bathroom. I thought I was never going to fall asleep again. It still hurts this morning and I can barely walk. I started crying when my boss asked me how I was this morning. I'm just so tired I can't stand it.
  • Slept great last night. Saturdays baby shower wore me out so sunday i just laid around and I was worried I wouldn't be able to sleep because of my lazy day. Boy was I wrong. The downfall, when I woke up this morning my spine/back hurt sooooo bad I almost started crying. I was able to do a few stretches and feel okay now :)
  • Feeling SO pregnant these last 12 hours. My shower was yesterday so between walking around chatting all day (in wedges!) and then helping DH carry the lighter gifts from the car into our house, I feel soooooo achey today. My ankles were definitely swollen last night and I've noticed my abs (or what's left of them) really ache! I notice the abdomen pain hurts the most when im switching sides or sitting up in bed. The discomfort isn't unbearable so I'm assuming it's just normal aches and pains but it's super annoying!

I finished my z-pack last night from last week's burny throat and congestion but I'm still feeling nasaly and a little gross. Im sure being a busy lady yesterday didn't help that either. BOO! I'm hoping it gets better working from home and taking it easy today.

  • Still dealing with the remnants of whatever had me so ill to my stomach on Saturday. I've always had an iron stomach, so this feeling is really foreign to me and I'm not sure how to deal with it. I'm assuming its acid reflux as my tummy just feels all bubbly and like a boiling cauldron, and I keep having to burp. Everything I read about acid reflux says eat smaller, more frequent meals and drink a lot of water, but my tummy is such a boiling cauldron that I'm finding it hard to eat or drink water. I don't have that heavy or fiery feeling in my chest tho that is supposed to come along with it, so I don't know what the heck is going on.
I know you guys have talked about this and I remember you mentioning tums and maybe zantac but the thought of flipping back thru all those symptoms boards is wearying me, and when I tried the search last night I just got a bunch of bump articles instead your guys' wisdom.

  • I'm physically feeling pretty good today, with the exception of low back and hip pain which has been the norm. Emotionally, however, I'm a basket case and it's super annoying. My feelings are hurt over the dumbest thing and I can't seem to get myself together. Ugh!! Lots of errands to run this afternoon and I certainly don't want to be a sobbing mess. . .

  • I think I
pretty much have all the pregnancy symptoms right now:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    insomnia
    (peeing 3+ times)

  • I don't even know where to begin. It feels like so many things going on. Yay third trimester!

-Pelvic pain/ pressure since LO is pretty low
-Swollen feet. I can't fit into my cute shoes anymore.
-heartburn/ acid reflux is a nightmare! Laying down with my feet up helps with pelvic pain and swelling but then I start feeling the acid coming up. Ugh. I can't win.
-I HAVE TO PEE ALL THE TIME.
-my skin is starting to break out a little and I'm noticing age spots too.
-Aside from all of my complaints, a major plus is that my hair seems thicker and shinier.

I've also been noticing less movement like PP had mentioned. Fortunately, I got a fetal Doppler when I was pregnant with my first. I got a cheap one off amazon. So I used it this morning and felt relieved when I heard LO's heartbeat.

  • After being on my feet all day on Saturday at my baby shower-which was wonderful by the way-I've had nothing but terrible lower back pain and groin pain ever since! It's awful. We had the shower at my house (don't worry, I didn't 'host' it, my best friend did) so that many of the guests could also see our new home, since we had moved in it back in September and a lot of the guests hadn't been able to view it yet (plus the floor plan is perfect for entertaining and events like a baby shower). So between cleaning and then showing the home and helping my friend set up, I was super active that that day.  I went and walked on the treadmill over my lunch hour and that seemed to helped the pain,  but now sitting back at work, it's coming back.

Also, baby has been sitting on my bladder and I also am having to pee all the time too-or at least it feels like it! Ugh.

And my boobs-good lord, they are SO sore, just like they were back in the 1st trimester. I'm going to assume as a FTM, that now it's not going to go away.

It could always be worse, though.

  • Just feeling really pregnant! People keep asking me if I'm about to pop... I'm not. I'm not due until June 26.

I've also been experiencing extreme acid reflux. I feel like I have fire in my throat. Nothing helps besides not eating before bed... But that's when I want to eat!
  • I've had extreme acid reflux since about week 8 of my pregnancy. I'm 28 weeks now. I've taken tums but they help for about an hour. I finally broke down and asked my doc what I could do and she said OTC meds are fine. After trying a few I've learned Prilosec OTC has worked wonders! I still have that full feeling in my throat but it doesn't burn and it has made a WORLD of difference for me! I can actually sleep laying all the way down and I'm no longer vomiting(that's how bad my acid was)! anyways, check with your doc and give it a try. You won't regret it. Hope you get some relief! :)
  • I'm struggling with the same @KimBohannon... I was up four times last night vomiting.  I am already on a prescription for the reflux and using zantac/ tums as backers.  I just need to pay more attention to what I am eating.  Time to dial all food down to BLAND!  9 more weeks. Totally doable!

  • @mellymar I used Gaviscon (think that's also available in the US?) and it worked wonders. I also made sure not to lay down for at least an hour after meals, and tried not to drink anything at meals - tried to leave an hour between eating and drinking. Truthfully, only the medicine really made things significantly better. And super loose clothing. Was surprised how much loosening my bra helped. Hope you feel better soon!
  • @mellymar I use Zantac, it's been great for me so far. My doc also has Pepcid on the list, but since the Zantac works, I haven't tried anything else. I was plowing through Tums before, which was actually probably really contributing to the constipation, since it hasn't been an issue since switching. Doc said it's because of all the added calcium in Tums.

I definitely have the feeling like I have to pee all the time, even when I stand up from the toilet having just finished going! I'm glad I didn't attempt this weekend's 10k. I get a lot of pressure when I do too much. My limit anymore is around a mile and a half. Plus, it was just stupid cold here Saturday and it briefly snowed- UGH!

My best friend said I have the pregnant walk, but it's mostly just when I really have to pee, from the pressure of my bladder on everything else.

I'm sleeping pretty well, most nights I only get up twice, but it's never enough.

Overall, still feeling pretty decent, if just tired!

  • Went grocery shopping ! Felt like I ran a marathon !!! Got doctors note to start medical leave soon !! I'm exhausted and sore and can't wait to stop work !!!
  • Still using tums and Pepcid all the time.
Can't ever sleep, especially on my side. My arm falls asleep(hardy harhar) halfway through the night! My belly just aches all the time. Same with PP I get super paranoid about baby movement.

  • @mellymar I've also always had an iron stomach so I'm hating on this reflux and heartburn. I was trying to tough it out until I realized how dumb it was. My doc says Tums, Prilosec and Zantac are all a-ok. I started Zantac last week as needed and it's helped!

Last of 5 12 hour night shifts tonight...I CAN DO THIS (and then never ever punish myself by doing it again!!)

Feeling surprisingly well today. Just some hip pain but nothing a few Tylenol can't fix. Hope you guys get some relief from that reflux!

Yes, ditto here, especially after last week's terrible news.  Saturday I walked 5 miles and climbed a 200-step wooden tower.  I felt great, but it was raining yesterday, so I just laid in bed all day.  I barely felt any movement and was pretty concerned, since my LO is also usually pretty active throughout the day (especially after meals).  DH said it was just a lazy day for everyone and not to worry. Today LO is active again, though not as active as last week.  I am a FTM and also struggling to know when to worry and when not to.  I am in my 30th week, so don't know if it's a matter of LO losing space to thump around, or what.

Sorry I don't have any advice... just commiseration...

I'm in the same boat. I think my LO has shifted positions so that her back is facing out. I notice little thumps deep inside or in my lady bits, but nothing like last week. I checked her on my fetal Doppler last night because it was starting to freak me out. She sounds strong in there. I have my 28 week appt tomorrow so I'm going to ask about it then.

I can also sympathize with nicking the lady bits. I did that two weeks ago and haven't fancied a trim since. That freaking hurt! This is how I got the sweet nickname Patchy from my DH last pregnancy.

Thanks for all the help ladies ( @finchfeeder80 @amark11 @hoodoll82 @KimBohannon )! I have a call into my nurses office to ask what they have on their safe list, cause I know pepcid is on there, but its not helping, and I accidentally shredded the list with some junk mail a while back (oops). At least now I have a working list I can run off to them when they call back (which considering what time it is will probably be tomorrow, bleh)

ETA - zantac seems to be on everybody's list, I may just go get some

  • Just got kicked hard in the ribs!
  • Wicked nasty leg cramps (or charley horses) in both calves woke me up from a dead sleep this morning. Yelled and yelled for DH to help me.... The cramps still wouldn't release, so I just say and bawled my eyes out while he tried everything for a good ten minutes. Worst morning ever! Also started feeling all sorts of pain and discomfort in my pubic bone area.

On a better note, prevacid has saved my life!!!!
  • @mellymar. Zantac and you can grab the chewable Maalox.
  • Hi, first time posting here I usually just read and absorb. I have been miserable this last week, though. This is my second pregnancy and I am having so many more problems this time it feels like. Biggest is that LO seems to never sleep! He is so active it exhausts me and is painful sometimes. Sleeping is a joke bc everytime I try to move I get pains in whatever side I switch to that almost make me cry (and I'm not a crier.. ever). Then he protests the move for a good ten minutes of intense thrashing before I can possibly wiggle into a less uncomfy spot and attempt to sleep.. oh wait, but now I have to pee from all his wiggling. Don't know if anyone else has suggestions.... I'm desperate bc I'm a SAHM with my 3 yo and I feel like I'm less then useful to him being so exhausted all the time. Help!
  • Having lots of bleeding when I try to go to the restroom... I knew I was constipated (sorry tmi) but this bleeding is getting ridiculous
  • I have the worst reflux. Any suggestions? This is baby #3 and I never had it with my other 2.

@cvineyard2 My doc said Zantac is 100% safe. Can take twice a day.
  • Still no sleep and headaches for me. Going to a neurologist in Omaha NE for help tomorrow at a womens hospital...... OB is sending me. Dear lord I hope they can help. Thinking of all you ladies and your lovely symptoms as well.
