It's a boy! Now what?

I just found out about a week ago I'm having a boy. I'm really happy, but kind of stuck. My family was convinced since the day I said I was pregnant that I was gonna have a girl, and they were so convinced that they convinced me too. I'm not sad, I'm just confused and trying to figure out how to wrap my brain around the fact that I'm having a son. Any suggestions on how to emotionally and mentally prepare? I feel like I'm just finding out I'm pregnant all over again.

  • I don't really understand your question in regards to how you emotionally and mentally prepare to have a boy. It's a baby so it will be a life transition no matter the sex. My son is my world! Congrats! Boys are so much fun!

  • I'm not sure if this is your question, so I may have a secondary question... There are books I have seen on raising a daughter, dads to read about having a daughter etc. Any similar books, or items for having a boy people would suggest?
  • I've just spent the past couple of months visualizing my family with a baby girl but now I'm trying to visualize a boy.
  • Follow up from my pp... I understand a book won't tell me everything. But I do think it's exciting to read up on this stuff :-)
  • Thank youu! I just ordered a book on amazon. "It's a boy"
  • Everyone around me was convinced we'd get a daughter as well, but I have always felt that it would be a boy and I turned out to be right. So they had to adjust, but I was just happy. Although I would have been happy with either. Just give yourself time to get used to this and then you can get to know your little boy. Congratz and welcome to the blue team!
  • That kind of happened with our first. Everyone was convinced it was a girl expect me. I didn't have any strong feelings either way but I think my husband kind of had his heart set on a girl. Boys are SUPER fun and I love being a "boy mom"! And as much as they love their daddies, they love their mommies even more!
  • Buy some baby clothes. You can also start setting up boy things.
  • Um, you can prepare the same way as if having a girl. I don't understand the question/issue either.

  • Now you buy blue instead of pink. My two boys were soooooo super easy. This time around it's a girl and I'm excited but scared as hell because it's new. Have fun with it! ♡♡
  • I basically had the opposite experience. Ever since I became pregnant, everyone was convinced we were having a boy. My symptoms led more towards boy and DH and I had a boys name all set. But surprise team pink! I never felt disappointed or upset, just took some adjusting in my own mind to imagine having a girl. It helped me a lot just to go to the store and look at girl clothes and such. Also to look a girl nurseries on pinterest. Just familiarize yourself more with boy colors and themes. After about a week I was excited and completely comfortable with having a girl. I'm sure the same can happen for you.
