Short cervix,discharge and movements

Hey everyone,

I'm currently 23 weeks with my first bubba and at 20 weeks at my last ultrasound I found out I have a short cervix 0.9cm to be exact! Has anyone else gone through a pregnancy and labour with a short cervix? My doctor mentioned premature labour and it kinda freaked me out.

Also this question is kinda gross but I have so much discharge :( like i mean all day and all night. At first it was just white a kinda thick now it's a greenish colour and watery but it has no smell at all and earlier this week it literally looked like snot. I thought a infection but it doesn't hurt when I pee or anything just uncomfortable. I had to give my doctor a urine sample on Tuesday and she never called and asked me to come back or anything so is this normal?

And lastly when my little girl moves lately it is so friggen uncomfortable! It feels like her foot is right in my privates or a grinding feeling down there or even a gas feeling...I'm worried it's her getting ready to make her entrance into the world early. Thanks for anyone who can help me out!

Re: Short cervix,discharge and movements

  • Hello. I have a short cervix as well! Mine is due to a previous procedure called a leep. My doctor had me see a maternal doctor who has been doing internal ultrasounds to measure my cervix every 2weeks. So I hope that your doctor plans on checking it big weekly at least! My cervix has been fluctuating, but the average is about 30cm from all the ultrasounds. U will have a lot of discharge! But it should not be green! I feel they should have got you in for an exam to confirm there was nothing wrong. I would be right at urgent care or the hospital to complain about the discharge and the pain when she moves. At least u will be seen and confirm she is ok! They will make you see your doctor anyways, but she should have called u with something! There is a chance that we both can have a premi baby. My doctor said to not think about it. It will only cause more stress! Please keep us informed !

  • Dealing with a short cervix is not fun :( I had a emergency cervical cerlage put in when my cervix was 1.5cm i have been on bed rest since. Last Monday i got admitted to hospital cause my cervix funneled all the way to the stitch which is now 1.3cm im surprised your doctor isnt doing more where your still early on ? I also take progesterone vaginally everynight. That causes awful discharge. I wish you the best and to take it easy !
  • Discharge should not normally be green, I would call your doc
  • I don't think they can tell if you have a vaginal infection with a pee sample, don't they need to get a vaginal sample?
At least That's how my Dr. Does it.
    I had a vaginal
Infection at 12 weeks but didn't have any symptoms so it think it is 100 possible.
  • That is very short and I would ask about a cerclage (they won't do it after 24 weeks). If nothing else, they should at least be monitoring you every week or two and progesterone shots. I would also be concerned that The green "snot" could have been part or all of your mucus plug. I would definitely get in to see your doctor ASAP. Having had babies out of nowhere at 25 weeks, I wouldn't mess around and get checked right away!
  • At 22 weeks They found a short and funneling cervix. I was sent to the hospital the very next day for an emergency cerclage. Sent home on bed rest (still on it)and vaginal progesterone supplements with weekly doctors appt. Im 24 weeks now with cerclage holding sttong. At 25 weeks they will give steroid shots to help baby's lungs as a just in case. It seems like your doctor's should be doing more. There is a window for cerclage and you are about to pass it. Demand more options and more attention from your doctor.
