orgasmic birth

There's a birth technique called orgasmic birthing.
Has anybody heard of/ tried this technique?
I'm interested in it for my l&d but I just want to learn more about real people's experiences with it rather than Wikipedia.
Insults or crude remarks towards the woman who have used this will be reported.

  • A HUGE load of horse Sh$t!
In my ten years I have never seen, nor have any of my coworkers.
There are wackos that get off on pain though
  • I saw something about it on TLC a few years ago but from what I understand, it's random and unpredictable. But as a FTM, no personal experience.
  • Seems like I would have other more important things on my mind in that moment but that's just me.
  • From what Ive heard it's like hypnobirthing. You let your natural oxymoron levels put your body in an ecstatic state to distract from the pain. In No way am I saying I'm down with having a full on orgasm during childbirth but I am all for the hypnotic aspect
  • I've read a little bit about it.  Not sure where you are delivering but it seems like it would be hard to do in a hospital setting.  I think you really have to be comfortable and sort of uninhibited, which is hard to envision in a hospital.

I did not have/study orgasmic birth (I did Hypnobirthing) but I had heard it mentioned vaguely by another person in my class, but that's as far as my knowledge extended.  TMI warning here, I do think it is possible for some women to have this work as a natural form of pain relief.  Here's why I think it's possible, I did have one contraction when in labor with my first that felt...well, exciting?  ::majorly blushing:: I labored almost the entire time in the bath and during contractions DH would pour water over my stomach which helped immensely, well one time perhaps the water was poured a little lower I honestly don't know, but that contraction was different than all the others.  Can't believe I just shared that, seriously I'm not a weirdo just wanted to offer up that I think it could be possible under the right circumstances.  ::runs away::
  • Well that was kinda rude..
  • Ugh I hate this phone. I went to put oxytocin, not oxymoron.
@sschwege Thanks! This made me feel a little better about considering it.
Were going to call my midwife when I start having contractions and let her know and go through most of labor at home, then we will move to a hospital when contractions start getting intense. WEve talked to the hospital staff and they are more than willing to let us have as much alone time as we need to try it. Ive made it clear that I don't want nurses or visitors or doctors coming in all the time. Only every 3 hours if necessary to check my cervix I hope this works out for me, I want childbirth to be an enjoyable experience this time since my first wasn't really ideal.
Also, contractions are ur uterus contracting, which also happens during an orgasm, so that makes sense about the odd feeling contraction.. I would totally take the awkwardness of having an orgasm during a contraction over feeling the full blown pain, even if that makes me a freak
