irrationally paranoid, need someone to slap me

I am traveling alone across the country (tonights my last night) and I heard on the radio while I was driving about the poor woman that had a lady from Craigslist cut her baby out, little angel died and the mom survived. Now I am suspicious of everyone and can't sleep in my hotel room. Also, driving during the day is making me super afraid, not because of my driving abilities but I'm nervous that other people will cause an accident. I wear my seatbelt, use a safe following distance, etc. Is this what my life is going to be like forever now, always afraid of everything????? It's almost paralyzing.

  • Yep I've been thinking a lot about this too. I got a free changing table off of a local community board and while all was fine, I am kicking myself for not binging DH with me. Never again!
  • i understand how hearing something like that can freak someone out, the whole paranoia thing can be managed. i use to freak myself out by thinking that im gunna die during labor. you just gotta separate the truth from the lies, not letn your mind get the best of you. or just pray:) that always helps me! :)
  • I was drawn to your post b/c of the "irrational" part. Isn't it crazy how we let our hormones take us so far beyond the realm of reason. I think we all have irrational worries, fears, and preoccupations; we just have to be sure that we're being smart and making safe choices. It's so important to try to keep our stress levels at a minimum for our precious little ones' sake. I agree with the previous response that prayer helps me tremendously, but if that's not your thing, find something that does bring you peace and focus on it. You're a smart mommy; trust yourself and your decisions.
