My nerdy sister got me reading The Dresden Files series. It's about a detective/wizard who solves magical crimes with the Chicago P.D. It's really fantastical but the main character is pretty funny and they're easy to get lost in. Not sure if that's your thing but I didn't want to leave you hanging.
I pulled up my e-library to see my book club books, and here are some that peeps overall seemed to like:
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness (one of three, and if you like it, all three are already out)
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
The Witch of LIttle Italy by Suzanne Palmieri
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon (second book is out now too)
The Other Typist by Suzanne Rindell
Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo (one of three, which are all available now)
The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston
Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese (This is a bit heavier than the others, so it takes a while to get into it)
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kahling
The Magic Room by Jeffrey Zaslow (loved this one and the sweet/sad story behind the author)
Emily & Einstein by Linda Francis
Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I also like some mindless quick-reads in series too (ranging from trashy to Hunger Games-esque series), so if you want any suggestions there, let me know.
I'm currently reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. Her books are mysteries that time jump through character's memories. If you like fun mysteries that are historical, I like anything by Deanna Raybourn, Tasha Alexander, or Rhys Bowen. Happy reading!
It depends on what you like, but I have so many recommendations. And, my range is broad.
