I'm due in a few days and for the last two I've been experiencing rectal pressure and back ache. I spoke with my doctor a few hours ago and I was told I could go into labor and delivery and be checked or to wait it out but definitely go in if it gets worse.. I'm confused because when I asked wether or not this was beginning stage of labor she only said "you can never tell because everyone is different but definitely go to the hospital if your water breaks, you experience bleeding or consistent contractions.." I took a bath to try and ease the back pain BUT now I am having discomfort down below... Has anybody experienced this beginning labor??
I'm not sure how bad of pain your are talking about. For me the last week or so I have had constant rectal pressure with tweaks of pain from baby moving. And then my back hurts especially if I've been out and about a lot.
I think back pain in correlation with labor usually comes in waves. If it's more of a constant ache/pain it's likely to just be back strain from added weight and then if it's constant rectal pressure type pain then that's probably from baby dropping.
Usually labor type symptoms come in waves. But everyone does experience labor differently so if you're worried then have yourself checked. No harm in checking
With my first I went to hospital with really bad lower backache. I'd had it for two days and couldn't really sleep, turns out I was 7 cm dilated and was in labour. Couldn't feel contractions just constant backache. Might be worth getting checked out. Good luck, hope it's over with soon for you x
My back pain was so bad I couldn't lie flat. I thought I was constipated the whole time, but turned out to be her head sitting low in my pelvis. Dr is correct though, every labor is different.
Omg I had rectal pressure like crazy the day my labour started!!! I had contractions, but they never reached the 5-1-1 rule so I never went to the hospital until it was almost too late !!! I had her very quickly! Like less then an hour and a half after getting to the hospital!
Well, I went into labor and delivery and they monitored me they said pressure was from baby getting in position and I was barely contracting. I'm 100% effaced and only 1 cm dilated, my due date is 3 days away so I'm patient but this is my first baby and I don't know what to expect. Doctor told me when I'm having pain in my abdomen and I'm finding it hard to breathe or have to stop in my tracks that's when I'll know for sure that I'm in labor. I actually feel that the back pain increased since I left the hospital
