This is a question really I'm up to date with my injections so thought my baby was protected from measles through me but my midwife said I need another injection. Only worrie dad a child in my son's school has it. Any idea if I'm correct or if midwife is correct?

    My doctor did the normal blood panel in my early pregnancy and it showed that i am not fully covered from an immunity perspective. So when I am in the hospital I need another MMR. It made sense to me, but I am pro-vaccines, I just had the TB whooping cough shot when in the office last week, my arm is still sore! Good luck!

    Even though you received your MMR previously- you can become Rubella non-immune over time and require an additional dose after the baby is born. You can not get the vaccine during pregnancy because it is a live attenuated vaccine, and theoretically you could give the rubella infection to the baby.
    After delivery you can request a blood draw for antibodies and know for sure whether you need the vaccine again.
