No naps at 19 months?

So, my son decided to quit taking naps this week. He is 19 months. He doesn't get sleepy before his bedtime either. He is happy and full of energy the entire day!!! Did anyone else ever experience their little one not napping for a while? Did they return to taking regular naps? Was it related to something else? Growth? Milestone?

    While I can't necessarily relate, it doesn't particularly sound like he will go back to napping if he isn't showing signs of being tired during the day.  My apologies for your loss of naptime.  Good luck!

    My son did this at the same age, he did go back to napping after a week. I was having trouble with him going down for a nap, so after reading some helpful books I did hush time. He doesn't have to sleep, although he normally does but after five to six hours of being up he has to go to his crib. I let him bring a race car or two, put on soundscapes and make it dark. Within half hour he goes to bed. When he doesn't nap I leave him there about an hour and take him out, at least I get a break. If he complains I check on him but by now he's pretty content playing and babbling to himself. No toys with music or noises. Good luck!

    My daughter is 21 months and I have a similar problem. She will take a 2-3 hour nap at daycare but on the weekend refuses. She screams and cries when we go anywhere near her crib/room so I can't leave her in the crib to play till she falls asleep. I know she is tired though. She will fall asleep if we go somewhere in the car within the first ten minutes and by 5:00 she's cranky from being so tired. Any suggestions?

    They really do still need naps, they just don't know it. When my 19 month old "tried" this, I politely corrected him:) after 5 or so hours of being up and playing hard...time for hush time. If you sleep cool if not, oh well, at least your body is resting and Mommy can have a free moment to regroup. He protested at 1st but realized I wasn't budging. Wakes up ready for his next round and less cranky.

    Nope, nope, nope.  Most kids will try to fight naps at that age, but I keep with the routine.  They will get back into it.  They really need the sleep at this age.  In fact, my almost 5 year old still naps daily.

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.

    My son is almost 23 months and resists naps quite often. He needs them; he gets grumpy from being tired, and he'll fall asleep in the car or stroller if we're out, but at home, he hardly ever naps.

    I used to lay down with him and nurse him to sleep and nap with him, but now that we're weaning and he doesn't nurse more than maybe once a day now, that doesn't work.
