Hi all.....I turned 40 in November and resigned myself to the fact that I'd never be a mom. Then I met Mr right and although it's fast we are TTC. He's a widower and has 2 kids but wants another. We just started trying and I'mwondering if im crazy for doing this at my age. Its a bit surreal taking the OPK, and wondering what's going on inside me. Anyone else feel that?
Welcome. Many of us here are over 40. I had my first at 40 and now I'm hoping for #2 at 42. You are not crazy.
Are you charting? Temping and charting along with using the OPK could really increase your chances and help you understand your body. I highly recommend the site Fertility Friend. It's great for charting and has a lot of great information.
Good luck and congrats on finding Mr. Right!

Thanks! Yes I am charting my temp and using OPK. I went off the pill right before AF and despite it being my first cycle off the pill in like 20 years the OPK was positive on CD16.....crazy right?! So I know we were within the window and now we just wait, right?
Welcome! I am also new here and my first time TTC at 38 yrs old. You are definitely not crazy and I wish you the best of luck! I'm so glad they have these type of support outlets for us:)

It's not at all unheard of for someone to get a bfp right after coming off the pill. When I went off the pill at 37 or 38 after also being on them my entire adult life, my cycles were like clockwork for a few months then my body started to find it's natural rhythm again. You just never know. Best of luck to you and if it doesn't happen in a few months you should definitely see your dr to stay on top of any possible issues. Most will let you try for six months before running tests or referring you to an RE.
