I'm having a hard time finding a convertible crib with a dropside. So far the only one I can find online is the Graco "Lauren" but it doesn't have great reviews... anybody know of any others?
I've heard mixed reviews about them as well, but since I've had back surgery, my doc actually recommended that I try to find a good one. Being able to lower the side is a HUGE help for someone with 3 herniated discs!
I don't mind if its not convertible, but I'd prefer one that is, and so far I haven't been very successful in finding a decent one.
Mine is dropside and converts to a toddler bed, but not to a full bed. It's from Pottery Barn Kids. Dropside was important to me because I'm really short and couldn't reach into the stationary side cribs!
My crib is a drop-gate crib...so just the first few inches or so of the front of the crib folds down, as opposed to having to move the entire front....

Thanks do you know if all their cribs are ds/conv or just certain models? Which did you get? Aside from the back issue, I'm also only 5' tall, so yeah - the ds feature would be a huge help.

Yeah something like that would be fine too. I dont need the whole side to come down, just a bit so I can actually reach in when the mattress is at the lower levels.
That's really cute - I know my hubs wants black furniture, which I am totally fine with (it actually goes better with the bedding we picked) but something like that would be great. Thanks!
I think only some of their cribs are dropside. I am 5 feet as well! When I was crib shopping the guy in one store kept telling me there was no way I couldn't reach.... they are made for people at least 4'9" to reach. Well, then he saw that on my tiptoes I still had trouble reaching to get a sleeping child in and out!

SAME thing happened to me. We were in BRU checking out the cribs and i kept asking if any of them were dropside and the guy was like, "nah you'll be OK" until he lowered the mattress all the way and there was no way I could reach all the way down! I'm not getting a step-stool to reach into a crib, and I can't bend over that far anyway! It's gotta be somewhat adjustable.
We just picked up the Graco Lauren in Espresso last night. It's great. Where are you reading "bad reviews"? It's reviewed on Target.com, Walmart, and BRU and in Baby Bargains. It has overwhelmingly good reviews, and is rec'd for the price. Sure there are a few bad reviews, but 1 negative and 50 positive = ok in my book.
And, you are a dumbass for your comments on 1st tri. Good luck here, you won't last long.
I was really interested in your response until the last line... was it necessary?
I read the reviews for different models, etc on target, amazon, bru and bbbaby. seems like the biggest complaints were that the finish tends to rub off or that the rails splinter.

I'm assuming this was directed at me? Yes, I do feel like it was necessary. If you don't like it, no one's forcing you to be here.
And you can always spend waaay more money and get a better quality crib, if you are that worried about it. I really think the Lauren is great so far.
i opted for a drop side b/c i find it hard to reach in too, and i am 5'3'. we bought our crib from walmart. it is made by delta, it's one of the few that have drop side and is convertible. it's new so there were no reviews that i could find. https://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10233459

baby's dream has their generation next crib that drops down and converts to a toddler bed and adult bed (must buy conversion kit for $125) for adult bed. ?The crib ran us about $550 I think. ?It also is rated A in the baby bargains book. ?https://www.babysdream.com/Products/GenerationNext/Default.htm?
Oh and I should add that DH and I tried to purposely get our fingers caught and we closed the crib door on each others fingers and there is no possible way to get your fingers caught. They had a recall a few years ago but have since fixed the issue. I am short so I preferred the drop down crib.
Re: Cribs: Dropside AND Convertible?
a. You are the poster from first tri whining about "catty" b**tches, right??
b. Drop side cribs are more dangerous than tatoos. ?Perhaps we can recommend a few books for you to read??

It is her!!!! I didn't even notice!
YAWN...oh sorry did you have something helpful to contribute?

Yes, I was alerting second tri that you were here. ?I believe that is helpful to the rest of us
?
We have one for dd that is both. It's beautiful in person (much better than in the photos). We got ours from BRU.
