BBT spike w/ negative OPK??

Hi Everyone! I have been tracking my BBT for the past couple of months. I know that when you get a temp. spike along with the other fertile symptoms, you are most likely ovulating. My question is that I have been using the Clear Blue Digital Ovulation tests since CD 9 and I have been stuck at the flashing smile high fertility for the past 7 days along with EWCM. Today is CD 16 for me which is when I have ovulated in the past, and again today I got a flashing smile, but I also got a pretty big temp. spike. Does this mean I'm ovulating?? Thanks!!

  • Can you share your chart? A one day temp spike doesn't necessarily mean you ovulated. You are looking for a sustained rise in temperature as shown by 3 temps that are higher than your previous temps. The day of ovulation is the day before the temp rise. Have you done the tutorials on fertility friend?

Also, the LH surge, which causes the solid smiley can sometimes be missed if you only test once a day.

  • Id like to see your chart also.

With me, I usually get a positive OPK the day I ovulate, and a barely positive the day after. One temp spike doesn't necessarily mean anything, remember you're looking for 3 days of a temp rise.

    Have sex and keep temping.

  • Thanks everyone!

I think I'm a bit worried that I missed the peak ovulation from the test since I only test with FMU. If I keep testing with Clear Blue ovulation tests could I stop testing after a 3 day sustained temperature rise even if I haven't gotten the peak result yet?

In the mean time I will definitely keep temping to make sure the temp rise is sustained and BDing!!

Remember OPKs are a secondary sign. Have sex every other day!

You don't need to see the peak to get pregnant. :). You just need to have sex within a few days of ovulation.
Just keep having sex and temping till you get a real temp shift. It's all you can do.
