I feel like I am a pretty tough person but I was no match for labor pain with DD. I am amazed how strong the ladies are that can give birth without Meds. Slow clap to all of you!
Going for a VBAC since my c section was hell on earth for me last time. I'll take anything over taking a whole year to recover! But I'm going to go natural for as long as I can but if I wimp out, epidural all the way.
Asking if I want an epidural is like asking if I want a giant ice cream sundae! Of course! With my DD I had a great experience and it worked wonders! I had a very long 34 hour labor so I was happy to have some help through it! I was giggling laughing on the phone with people up until it wore off, right at push time (which hurt but worked out well) I was able to feel my legs shortly after and move into my clean room and go to bed!
I guess it depends. A friend of mine has had two little ones. One labor she had back labor a and with the second she didnt. Needed an epi with back labor and idnt with the second. I had back labor with my daughter. Its a pain like no other. I got the epi as soon as they offered it
Im hoping for a vbac and at the moment my lower right back is playing up so im hoping it comes good for labour if not then an epi will help. I need to see an physio asap!!

ETA: Another option for some may be IV/IM pain control. And while I hope none of us need it, general anesthesia could be necessary (those with previous spinal injury needing a c-section). Med free & epidural aren't the only ways to go.
With my first the epidural failed and I had no time to get it fixed. I'm unsure if I will opt for the epidural again as I had long term back pain at the injection site.
Epidural hands down. I'm a sissy for pain. Plus I figure I've gone through enough uncomfortable moments for 9 months, I owe myself a somewhat pain-free delivery.
I'm planning on an epidural. My previous pregnancies were vaginal deliveries with epidurals. I wouldn't have a tooth pulled without my mouth being numb just so I could experience the pain.
Since its a necessary scheduled c-section mine will be a spinal block and I'm freaking out... I have really bad nervous reactions to anesthesia and usually take Xanax prior to calm the nerves but obviously won't be for this:(
I'm going to try and avoid the epidural if I can because of all the potential complications... but if I'm in labor for too long and it's unbearable, or if I end up with back labor, I'm totally going for it.

what a great analogy!! I held out as long as I could on an epidural with my son...after I couldn't take it anymore and I got the shot I was like "what was I thinking, this is great...why did I hold out for so long?" so I'm def getting an epidural again
