Plus-sized and showing?

So I'm about 216 pounds and 13 weeks today and I can't really tell I'm pregnant especially first thing in the morning for some reason. I haven't gained any weight yet and I haven't had a baby in 7 years and my last child I started off with a flat belly so I could easily see a protruding bump. Now that I started this pregnancy already with a little fat pad on my belly I really can't tell and it's starting to worry me. Especially because I have a hard time finding the baby's HB and because my symptoms are subsiding too. Can anyone in my position tell me when they starting showing?

Re: Plus-sized and showing?

  • I'm slightly larger than last time too. My starting weight was 202 and I'm 5'8. As it did last time, the top of my tummy is getting bigger than where baby is. I guess just things shifting. It's just going to be different this time. Not necessarily bad though. Symptoms should be subsiding now since 2nd tri is when people generally feel the best, so try not to sweat that.

  • This is third and although I am smaller than I was for my second I am bigger than I was with my first. I'm 230lbs 12 wks 2 days pregnant and although I can tell my uterus is pushing up past my public bone now (mostly by pushing around on it lol) no one else can see any difference. Don't worry though, we will all look like we're smuggling beach balls under our tshirts soon enough lol!!
  • I'm 175 at 5'2 and I didn't really start showing till I was at least 16 weeks along, and even then it wasn't extremely noticeable. I wore maternity jeans and normal shorts. I was closer to 20 weeks before I was obviously pregnant and people commented.

I'm in the same boat. I'm 5'9" and I was 198 pre-pregnancy and I've gained 4 pounds. I'm 12w4d and I look bigger but not really pregnant. I basically look like I can't sick in my belly anymore! Haha and I can feel that my belly is harder.

  • I'm in the same boat! I was 167 when I got pregnant and I'm 5'3. I'm pretty lean with my weight evenly distributed throughout my body (at my highest weight of 190 most people were completely shocked to learn I weighed more than 150-160 and would make me get on a scale to prove it.) So I had a belly but it was more of a pooch. Now I'm 169-170 (depends on the day) and I can definitely see that my stomach looks MUCH bigger. Except it looks like straight up fat bigger. Not like a baby bump and I can barely suck it in now. It's all my upper stomach. Lower stomach looks the same as always even though at my first pre-natal appointment last week my OB said she could feel my uterus already rising out of my pelvic bone. I have no idea what to feel for so I can't personally tell!

I hope it starts to look more like a baby bump by the end of April/beginning of May for our engagement pictures lol.

    Oh, I'm only 11 weeks, 3 days!
  • I'm 5'7" and weigh 207. I have only gained 2lbs so far and will be 10 weeks tomorrow. My doctor made a Crack about how I am already showing and have started to round out. With my first though I was showing at 13 weeks. I actually had someone comment and ask if it was twin..... Nope only 1 and have only gained 2lbs!
  • I just looked back at photos of me with my daughter (my second) and I started that pregnancy at about 175.  I had a little bump around 14 weeks.  This time I weigh a good bit more and although I can tell that some things have shifted I am sure the general public can't tell.  I have lost a few pounds, but I feel like I look heavier.  I think the fat that was in my pooch has been displaced by my uterus up to my tummy area.

  • My doc told me that I will probably not show until 27/28 weeks because I'm plus sized to begin :( makes me kinda sad
  • I'm a lot bigger than you ladies.  With my first pregnancy friends and family could tell at 20 weeks and the rest of the world around 25-27 weeks.  This time around I'm showing faster.  Don't feel left out.  You can sculpt your bloat into a bump quite easily.  Full panel maternity pants and GRANNY underwear are the keys for me.  Granny being the super old fashioned briefs that come up to just under your bra (so over the "bump".  It smooths it all out and shapes it nicely.  Maternity shirts too will help.

  • I'm 188 and 5'2" and a size 12. 12 weeks and a few days now, and my stomach is definitely bigger, but it's just making me look fat, because my low-panel maternity pants cut into my belly and make the top part hang over. I think it'll be time to switch to full-panel soon.

I hope my belly rounds out a bit though

  • I'm 5'7 and 170 lbs. Size 10. 12 weeks preggo. But I'm not showing either. How I know bump is coming is Bec when I suck in it hurts a bit. But I had a pouch pre pregnancy. I'm thinking I have a Month left to see and feel some hard belly. Everyone is different. But the bump is so cute I want one now! :) I'm rubbing it constantly even in public I'm obsessed with this baby already.
  • I am 5'1, 174 pounds and 12 weeks today. This is my first pregnancy. Last week I thought I felt a bump in my lower abdomen under my belly pooch but haven't noticed it get any bigger this week. Which is kinda worrying me. I don't get to go for my next ultra sound for another 2 weeks yet. My husband says he doesn't feel a bump but feels that it is a bit harder.
  • This is my third pregnancy. I started at 250 lbs at 5'7". I definitely look fatter...my belly is just being pushed out. I don't think will be able to tell I am pregnant until I hit 20+ weeks.

I wouldn't worry too much. At this stage, your uterus is JUST starting to rise over your pelvic bone. Not being able to feel a bump doesn't mean anything' going wrong. I'm 12 weeks 3 days and I don't feel like my belly has grown much in the last 1-2 weeks, but I've also only gained 2 lbs so far, so maybe baby is trading space with my fat. If you're not having symptoms like bleeding, I wouldn't worry. I'm sure baby's growing in there!

  • I'm much bigger than you guys ~250 and I can't tell at all :( I just look like I'm eating my weight in cheeseburgers (which lets be real, I'm getting there)

If I press on my belly it feels bigger under my fat (yuck) I def can feel a firm baby bump under there
  • I am 5'4 and 219. I've actually lost 15 1/2 lbs from being so sick but people swear I'm bigger than I was. I think it's the bloated belly situation I got going on. This is my 3rd and I can tell my lower belly is fuller than it was before. I started wearing full panel maternity pants and it makes me look more pregnant than fat thank goodness!! Can't wait to be waddling!!!!!! Good luck ladies, if anyone says anything negative to you just let it roll off your back, it's hard work growing a new life!!!!!!

I am much bigger than you gals but my mom and sister say they can see a bump forming. They say my belly just looks a little rounder. I am trying to dress to showcase my belly though (for the first time in my life) Lol
