What do you do when the food you want to make for DC is out of season? For instance, I want to make peaches, but they are not in season. I cannot find frozen peaches and I am not sure about using canned peaches.
frozen peaches are MIA for me too. I did buy some frozen mango though. Peaches was my exact example to my MIL about some of the babyfood things that i would consider buying premade for exactly your reason.
Wholesomebabyfood says not to use canned fruit for babyfood because of the high heat used to can them saps the nutrients.
Frozen. I've made a batch with frozen peaches a month or so ago. I have another bag of frozen peaches in the freezer right now.
I've tried to focus on doing the in season stuff right now as much as possible, although I havedone other things. But so far most everything I've done has been fresh. I won't use can stuff.
Honestly, we only really eat food that is in season ourselves, so I am doing the same for DD. The only exceptions I have made are frozen organic peas and blueberries. She may not have a huge variety of food yet, but once she is on regular food she will still be eating seasonally anyway.
I've been able to find something to make them in every season so far. They even had pineapple this week! I just go with the flow. Maybe there are nice mangos one week, satsumas another, blueberries another, whatever.
