Being Induced... Seeking advice

So long story short I have aquired the wonderful pregancy rash called PUPPPS. My due date is 4/4 and they have me scheduled for cervadil (spelling?) on 4/2 at 5pm and they will begin Pitocin at 6am on 4/3. So practically my due date. The only reason they are doing the induction is due to the severity of the rash that I have. I seriously would not wish this upon my worst enemy. I also was given the option today, that I could be induced THIS Friday (3/27) but I elected to wait so I am as close to my due date as possible. Next week they will check my cervix and if I am not at 3cm then I will do the cervadil, if I am 3cm then we don't have to come in for the cervadil on Thursday evening, just the pitocin on Friday. So for those mommas who have done cervadil and/or pitocin any advice is welcome. I'm kind of nervous about it but mostly just hoping that my little guy will decide to come on his own before then. TIA!

Re: Being Induced... Seeking advice

  • I have PUPPPS too and the midwives won't even induce me for it :(( I'm so tired of itching and I have freaking cuts
All over me from scratching. I look like I tangled with a vicious raccoon. :-$
As far as pitocin I had it with my last pregnancy. I didn't have any issue with it.

  • For a while I was thinking I was the only one! Sorry you have it too my dear!
  • I had Pitocin with my first after my contractions slowed down. They started it about 12 hours after my water broke and I had been contracting on my own just not enough to make progress. I rocked in a rocking chair through the contractions until they started the Pitocin. It made the contractions stronger and made them plateau instead of a nice bell curve. I couldn't tell when they would end and had a hard time focusing and breathing through them at that point. Within an hour after starting the Pitocin I got an epidural and slept overnight until I delivered the next am. It truthfully wasn't that bad and I wouldn't fear having to have it again I would just be sure to get an epidural. Good luck, sorry you have the rash so bad
  • With my first I went to 42 wks and had to be induced with cervadill, foley bulb and then pitocin. The first two were nothing, I slept for most of it (though medical staff are constantly going in and out). Once they started pitocin it was a different story and it wasn't so fun. I agree don't be shy about an epidural if you are having a rough time. Not sure I have too much other advice except to go out and have a nice, relaxing meal before you check in. Best wishes - you'll do great!

  • I had pitocin with my first. I don't have normal deliveries so don't set your hopes high, but I went from 4cm to 10cm in 45 min. (Hurt like a B though!) Barely had enough time for an epidural. Got it and delivered 30 min later. My son went into distress during the process because I opened so quickly and almost needed a C section so my advice is to start with a small dose of pitocon and work your way up! It's better for the baby :) Good luck!
