tested positive for hep c and freaking out!!!

I've never used drugs but I do have a few tattoos. The doctor called and said I tested positive for the first hepatitis c scan and I needed to get more testing done to confirm right away. Im losing my mind right now as to how this could be possible!!! Is there a chance it's a false positive? Has anyone else had this happen??

  • Not sure but praying it's just a false positive.

  • From what I know, false positives are rare but there are additional tests to confirm the diagnosis. I would get them done ASAP. I hope everything turns out ok!!
  • Praying for you!!
  • It's just your hormones they are at that crazy level
  • I am sorry, hoping it is wrong. Please update us!
  • During fertility treatments I had to have the Hep C screen done and mine came back positive. I freaked out! I am as "vanilla" as they come (please no offense meant by my description of myself), so no nothing for me! For the life of me I couldn't figure out how I could have contracted this. From an operating room??? That was the only option! I had to re-test (on Christmas Eve of all days) so I had to wait all through the holidays for the result...and it was a false positive. Doc said that happens quite a bit. All Hep C tests done on me before and after the "positive" were all negative. Hang in there...I know first hand how scary it is with that looming over your head.
  • Hoping it's a false positive!
  • I hope that it's just a false positive.
  • Probably a false positive. It's pretty common to have a false positive.
  • Everything's gonna be alright no matter what the results. <3
  • thank you all for the encouragement, it's much needed. I will definitely let you all know what happens.
  • My mom received a false positive last year. She was freaking out.Took another test and came back negative. So false positives do happen.Hoping and praying your test was wrong.
