Booked induction!

I had my 34 week check up yesterday and my doctor and I chose a date for my induction! 28th of April and this baby is out. Im due May 1st but for several reason we agreed an induction was best and now I'm so excited!

Lol! I jokingly said to my husband a few years ago that a nice 10th or 20th anniversary gift would be a ring with the birthstones of our children. He said to me after we got the induction date that it was going to be more expensive now because April is a diamond (he only knows this because my birthdays in April).
  • For those of you getting inductions early, can I be nosy and ask why?

I had an induction with my first because my water broke and I did not go into labor. I am hoping to avoid it this time if at all possible
  • I am just because of how swollen I am and how much fluid I'm retaining. Also because my husband works nights and it's really hard to get a hold of him, so it would just be better to have it scheduled so he can ask off ahead of time :)
  • I almost died delivering my 2nd baby, so my doctor has induced every baby since so that I can be in a controlled environment in case it happens again.

I'm having an induction for a few reasons, firstly my first delivery was so traumatic I developed PTSD and took a couple of years to recover. Secondly, my second was an induction to gain a more controlled environment. This one is also to gain a more controlled environment, but also because my husband does shift work and cannot leave site while at work and we have no family here. So my mother is flying in a few days prior and then when my DH finishes his shifts as close to my due date as was possible, I'll be induced. I'm aware none of these are medical reasons, however I'm also aware of how an induction goes. My sons was a wonderful and controlled birth as I was in hospital with a fantastic team around me. This will be hopefully similar.
  • Mine will be a medical induction around 37-38 weeks because I have antibodies that could kill baby's red blood cells and the tests I have weekly to check baby for anemia starts becoming less accurate after 36 weeks so it's safer to just deliver.

A little frustrated though because my perinatologist said I would be able to schedule with my OB once it's within a month. After discussing with my OB, they said that they don't schedule more than 7-10 days out.

If it's going to be scheduled, I want to be able to start planning. The wait is killing me! I'm about 3 weeks out at this point.
  • I was induced with DD because I developed severe pre-e. This time around it it a repeat c-section on May 11th. So excited that I have a definate date so my mom and sister can fly down. Plus since it is close to Mothers Day they are coming down earlier so I get to spend the holiday with my mom too!
