Curious how your leave will work? I was told I'll use all sick leave followed by STD. I will have roughly 5w sick leave before STD. Is sick leave full pay for you?
We only had 6 sick days with no carryover, private school, but fully paid. My STD was 40% school 60% for STD for six weeks. I think every school is different so good to ask yours.
We don't have STD so we just have to take sick time then unpaid leave. The sick time is fully paid, however, I will only have about four weeks of sick time then I will be unpaid for the remaining eight. It sucks.
My sick leave is full pay. I get my benefits paid during the 12 weeks of FMLA (which is 60 workdays, not 12 calendar weeks). We have short term disability we pay into every year. I get 60% of my paycheck for 6 weeks if it's a vaginal birth, 12 if it's a c-section. I had 60 days of sick leave with my first, but will only have around 20ish with this one (we get 10 a year, they roll over). Then if I'm home sick or with a sick kid after leave, it's unpaid leave. Boo!
I'm still waiting to hear back from HR because I'm not sure what my district offers, I know I have about six weeks of sick time I can use at full pay, six weeks bonding at 55% provided by state of California and some teachers told me short term disability for six weeks at full pay, but that sounds too good to be true so I'm waiting for confirmation! But aren't we lucky to have the entire third trimester during summer vacation!
I have to use my sick leave and get unpaid FMLA up to the school year. I took out a short term policy for this reason. I'll only be out 6 weeks though, a 3 year old 2 car payment ta and student loans.... got to work.
@meggipi5 yours sounds like mine. Our sick hours roll over so I know teachers that have 12+ weeks worth of sick time. I'm lucky to have the 5-6Weeks then STD. We earn 1.25d per month at full pay. But we get 6w STD for vaginal and 8w STD for c-section. Yours is awesome!
I was just curious what other schools/states did. Those of you who don't have STD, can you add it in now? Typically it covers 60%.
