28 weeks placenta problems

Hi - I was just admitted to the hospital due to one of our twins getting an "absent" doppler reading. They are saying the placenta is not working as it should be. I'm so scared for her and now scared that we may have to deliver both our twins at 29 or 30 weeks. Any positive stories about placenta problems and early birth would be really helpful right now. Our girl is weighing in at 1.9lbs and our boy is weighing in at 2.5lbs (absent of a week and a half ago)...
Thanks in advance!

  • Don't have any stories but I'll be thinking of you and your babies and wishing they get more time inside! Good luck.

I have a good family friend who delivered her twins around 28-29 weeks, though I'm not sure if it was placenta related. They are now very healthy and happy 5 year olds with NO problems related to their early birth - they were the flower girl and ring bearer at my wedding :) I hope this gives you some hope and that your little ones are able to wait a bit longer, but if they don't, know that there's still a good possibility that all will be well in time. Keep us updated!

ETA I'm also pretty sure that when they were delivered, both of my friend's babies were under 2 pounds, so your babies are already in better shape than hers were!

  • I've had a twin Mom deliver at 27 weeks bc premature labor and another at 29 weeks due to TTTS. All of them are doing amazing! The 29 weekers, are actually really ahead on their vocabulary at 3 yrs old.

    Thinking of you!
  • No experience, just wanted to chime in that 29 weekers have a phenomenal outlook, should they need to come early. Prayers for you that they stay in and keep baking!!

  • Positive thoughts being sent your way.
  • Delivering at a facility with a level 2 NICU or above will help.
  • I'm a twin and my sister and I were born at 32 weeks. My mama went to the hospital at 31 weeks and had a c section at 32 weeks. I weighed 4 8 and my sister weighed 4 11. We had to stay in the hospital a few weeks but we're both healthy 30 year olds now. Also had a coworker delivery her son at 29 weeks and he's 19 months old and healthy. Don't really know why it happened to my mom or her but babies are tough! Hope they stay in a little longer but if not, prayers they'll be little fighters!
  • Hoping everything works out and for healthy momma and babies! Thinking of you and your family!

Thank u all SO much! For your encouragement and blessings ♡ It lifted my spirits and allowed me to hear some positivity and truth in my situation. We have our big placenta doppler test at 8am this morning and I'm praying that our baby girls doppler and biophysicals come back as improved.
Thank u all again so much ♡♡♡♡
  • I hope you have good news today! Keep us updated!
