Frustrated at not pooping

LO gets so frustrated when he can't poop for one day. He kicks and fusses all the time and grunts out of frustration. It's cute but can be annoying when it's all day. I've tried helping him poop but it's not helping much. All he does is pass gas. Anyone else have these issues?

Re: Frustrated at not pooping

  • There is another thread on constipation you might find helpful. We do baby yoga everyday around 7 pm which really helps my LO with gas. He also really enjoys it. Also adding a probiotic can help with pooping/regularity. You should discuss it with your pediatrician before changing LO's diet though. I ended up changing formulas which really helped.

Do I even dare ask what you mean by, "I've tried helping him poop but it's not much help."

The doctor we are seeing isn't concerned unless they are hard pellets or there is a distended abdomin...but then again my baby has some different things medically going on and being monitored.

  • I know he's not constipated, which is why I didn't post on the other thread. I suppose I didn't make myself clear in my original post.

I was wondering if anyone else finds it entertaining when their LO gets frustrated when they can't poop. Sorry if it was confusing.

And by helping him poop, I meant massaging his abdomen, doing bicycles with his legs, and yoga. I've yet to have to use a qtip to stimulate him....hoping I never have to haha!
  • If he's fussy and then passes gas but isn't constipated, why do you think he's having trouble pooping? It just sounds like he's gassy. It's normal for babies to go a day without pooping. Some go several days without.
  • When my little one has gas it is anything but cute. She screams so loud and there is little we can do to help her. =(
She has a vibrating bouncer and I think the vibrating sometimes helps get things moving. I use that when it has been a day or so since the last BM.

Yeah...you kinda lost the message about finding it "entertaining" when you originally called it annoying.
