Gestational diabetic

So has any of you had to have an ultrasound and a non stress test every week until baby is born??

Re: Gestational diabetic

  • I am not gestational, but a type 1 diabetic. I am 32 weeks exactly and have been going for both nonstress tests and biophysical profile ultrasounds twice each week since I've been about 29 weeks. My doctor said I had til 32 weeks to wait to start doing these if I wanted but I like the peace of mind so opted to start sooner.

  • I had NSTs with my first every week but I'm not sure when they started. I had 1 ultrasound at 37 weeks last time; I'll have one at 36 weeks this time.

  • I have 2 NSTs weekly, 1 ob/gyn appt and 1 fluid check ultrasound weekly. These started at 32 weeks because my gestational diabetes could not be controlled with diet alone.
  • no stress test, but do have a quick bio-physical profile ultrasound every week until delivery.

  • So far I have been getting growth scans. My numbers are controlled by food so far, but they are creeping up a little. Who knows what the next 6 weeks brings.

I haven't had to do any extra tests or ultrasounds since I found out. My numbers have been really good since I've started monitoring my diet.
  • Thanks everyone! It's a little scary and overwhelming all at the same time. Plus with insurance not always covering everything it gets expensive.
