I need bed rest!!

I am in the military and I don't have the option of taking my maternity leave before the baby is born. I work in a hospital and I am on my feet constantly. I still have 8 weeks to go and I just feel like I can't deal with cranky doctors. I am so happy to have a healthy baby. The only way I can get any rest is to take leave which isn't an option or I wont have enough leave days for babies first holidays this fall and winter. So unless I can convince my doctor to just give me a week off and call it a medical necessity im in it for the long haul and I just feel so exhausted and drained. Ladies I just don't know if I can make it!! (being dramatic)

Re: I need bed rest!!

  • That is really tough!!! I didn't have any kids while I was in the military but I remember most of the women in the last few weeks were given super light duty, (like sitting around answering phones with their feet propped up) maybe your direct command could give you more opportunities to sit during the day? Hoping someone helps you out!!! That's got to be tough!!!

  • Be thankful that you're healthy enough to be able to still be working. I know several of us ladies have been on bed rest, myself included - going into week 4. I know it's rough, I worked through my whole 2ed pregnancy, in a factory of all things. Not being able to provide or do basic household things is terrible.

Atleast you're nearing the end :) it'll be over soon. Good luck!
  • In the UK you just tell them you're "stressed" and go off sick. If you're desperate, that sounds like the answer!

Not condoning this by the way!
  • I know there is two sides to every coin and the grass is always greener but nonetheless this mama needs a break and I think im going to have to seriously swallow my pride and tell my command I need lighter duty or half days and I am still going to ask my mil doctor for a couple days of quarters before I explode!!!! Maybe im just extra cranky because my Braxton hicks contractions are feeling more like mild period cramps and I am so not a fan!!! I thought 1st tri was bad this is a whole other can of worms!!! and its just the beginning. baby isn't even born yet.

  • I'm a nurse on a very busy floor, I just dropped to 2 shifts a week.  I totally understand.  I'm trying to avoid bed rest right now by cutting back a lot.  Good luck!

  • Yeah then you will know what im talking about doctors are like giant children who throw tantrums when they don't get their way and they could care less what you have to do to get it done! Even when a situation is out of your hands. its frustrating I think that is what really has me feeling pretty fed up!
