My friend told me today that it isn't safe to wear gel nail polish while pregnant. My doctor never mentioned anything wrong with it to me. Is it safe? Why or why not?
I have had one and plan on getting another but will only go to places I know are clean. Also, I didn't let them cut my cuticles due to infection risk. Just a plain old gel polish job. Plus, I think pampering is good right now, when you are feeling anything but cute
I asked this question a while ago and everyone assured me it was okay as long as the place is well ventilated. I asked my doctor and she agreed it was fine as well.
It's no different than getting a regular manicure, health risk wise. That said, gel polish isn't good for your nails (pregnant or not) so you should really only get them every once in a while or you'll end up with paper thin, brittle, sensitive nails.
They are completely fine. Im 27 weeks and a nail tech. I am around them everyday. I do them on myself and other pregnant women constantly. My dr even told me I could do acrylic. Just beware they might not stay on as well Because hormones and prenatals cause your nails to be extra oily.
