has anyone had a missed miscarriage AFTER seeing the heartbeat on u/s? I heard after seeing the heartbeat, the chances of any MC go down to less than 1%....
I lost my first baby at 22 weeks. After 20 weeks, it is legally classed a stillbirth. Most miscarriages or stillbirths after 12 weeks are caused by chromosomal issues, etc. In my case, my placenta just refused to grow so baby could not grow either.
I also had a second trimester loss last February, this is my first pregnancy since and I'm petrified! I've seen HB this time and just counting down days Til next US.

Stay strong! We are in this together, I know exactly how u feel, lots of hugs
When I had my mmc, I saw it at 6.5 weeks, then at my 8.5 week appointment the heart was no longer beating. The baby had stopped growing around 7 weeks. My RE and OB both told me that most miscarriages happen before 8 weeks.

Correct, no symptoms of a miscarriage at all except that my pregnancy symptoms went away around that time. I'd bet that once you get past a certain week, maybe 7 or so, MMCs are far more common than ones where you start bleeding. I don't have any data to back that up though. Try not to worry about it - there's just nothing we can do and it's unlikely to happen!
I had a MMC last year. I had zero clue that, that was even a thing. But I have an US at 6.5 weeks with a heartbeat. Went back in at 12 weeks and the baby no longer had a heartbeat and had stopped growing shortly after the first ultrasound. I didn't have the bleeding or cramping, however my symptoms completely and totally stopped. I mean I woke up no bloat, no sore boobs nothing a couple weeks before that. Keep in mind though that everyone's body is different. I had a friend who completely lost her symptoms at 8 weeks and now has beautiful 6 month old boy. I think if it is stressing you out, talk to your doctor and maybe they can do a scan early.
I saw a heart beat week 9 with twins but next visit only one. Twin A stopped developing a few days after week 9. I had no symptoms. It's still in there.
aah1013. The heartbeat was gone at 8 weeks after seeing it at 6 weeks and I was given a the following options: to miscarry naturally (which took over 4 weeks to pass and was excruciatingly painful), take a pill to make it pass, or a DNC. Although I had no "symptoms" of miscarriage...I also had minimal symptoms of being pregnant. I felt like my pregnancy was not progressing because I did not feel pregnant. I didn't know it at the time but I know now that is was a MMC.
I think a mmc is everyone's worst nightmare since apparently you often have no idea it's happening until weeks later. This is my first pregnancy and so far all is well as far as I know.....but when I read lots of testimonials like this, it makes it feel so common and like....well, if it happened to all these other ladies, it could just as easily happen to me! And then I totally freak out haha.
I think we ( @Chippercjm and whoever else is a worried FTM like me) should just remember that everyone with a bad/sad experience will write in to answer your question and explain what happened to them (since you asked). But what about all the moms on the Bump who stay silent because it hasn't happened to them? Could be thousands for all we know. My point is- it's very rare and even more rare the farther along we all get into our pregnancies... so try to imagine all the thousands of moms that haven't had this sad experience- most likely you are in that camp!
Yes. My first MMC I saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks and 8 weeks, baby died sometime after 8 weeks. I found out just before 12 weeks because I had brown blood spotting so went to ED. I passed the product after 12 weeks.
My second MMC I saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks, the next ultrasound at 9 weeks it had stopped. I started having brown spotting 2 weeks later. I passed the product a week after that.

@LydiaPick Thanks for posting that. With all the stories i read on here, its a constant fear of mine. Actually cried myself to sleep yesterday because ive been noticing a rapid decrease in symptoms. This is definitely my worst nightmare, i needed to read exactly what you posted.

"Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%.
A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks that goes up to 99.4%.
So things could still go wrong and sadly sometimes do, but as long as there is a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage decreases as the weeks go by."
